Melvin can play the CB position. He's better than J. Taylor right out of the box.
However, I think he's had some concussion issues. He's got skills enough to hold down a boundary CB position decently if healthy.
IMO, if his health is good, this is more than just camp depth. It's got potential for game roster depth.

I saw he had the shoulder injury earlier but not concussions.
One of the late season players for the Ravens to show up and become a fan favorite, Rashaan Melvin had his season derailed by a shoulder injury that required offseason surgery. I saw the injury and thought it was a concussion. Really glad it's not. Those big time concussions are hard to come back from. Much rather he be rehabbing a shoulder injury.
Since this is the case, I'm REALLY glad Miami picked him up. If the injury doesn't linger, he will be a solid back up and possible spot starter that won't hurt the team that badly. And he will make a few plays here and there that our CBs last year might not have made.
