I'm a bit of a one-eyed Dolphin fan and my knowledge of some of the other teams that don't get much TV time is limited. I know that Frank Bush is an extremely experienced Linebacker Coach who has come from the Los Angeles Rams and they were a tough Defensive team, but I don't know a lot more. We have some manning deficiencies at linebacker and I assume (right or wrong) that they will be a high priority in Free Agency and the Draft. However, what should we expect re the addition of Bush to a senior role supporting Matt Burke on Defense? Does he coach his linebackers to be a little dirty? Does he seek high position flexibility among his linebackers? Does he have a track record of developing talent?

Nothing until we get better linebackers

Exactly what I was going to say.

I really hope the staff has a good plan to fix the LB squad, and don't treat it like the O-line thinking better health will fix our LB problem.

Fresh bodies. Our Lbs were often targeted because of their deficiencies in coverage or the run game.

Guy must like challenges if he wants to coach our lbs. Good luck to him.

Our LB corp must get a big infusion of talent. That doesn't mean just drafting 1 and signing 1 in free agency. We need more than that. We need starters and good depth.

Maybe, just maybe, VJ spent too much time w/ the secondary (his expertise) & allowed the front 7 to stagnant?

The phins need to make every effort to resign Sims and hope Duarte can make a significant help thereby eliminating the need to improve TE. In doing so, they can place an emphasis on LB which will take 2 yrs to fix.

Dion J is the great unknown. Hopefully, Bush can really coach up Hewitt & whoever else is on the roster not named Alonso.

As for additions; Drafting Anderson (Bama) or McMillan (Ohio St) in the 2nd, then Munson (San Diego St (day 3)), & sign Nick Perry is a start.

A MacGyver like approach to this unit in 2017 will be mandatory. Burke may need to borrow concepts from the Tampa cover 2 as well Jimmy J's philosophy where having a great DL & proficient secondary can mask inadequacies at LB.

I agree, lack of talent was the biggest issue with our LB's last year. Coaching can only get you so far...I do like the fact that Frank Bush seems to have a ton of experience. While it's nice to give a chance to young coaches, experience could be key especially if 2 of our starting LBs come via draft this year
