DAVIE - The NFL's new practice squad rules will drastically benefit most NFL teams, especially the 2014 Miami Dolphins.

The NFL announced on Wednesday that they are extending the number of players on each team's practice squad from eight players to ten.

That means each team is now allowed 63 players when you put the 53-man roster, and 10 player practice squad together at the end of the month.

It also means 64 more players will be employed this year.

In addition to the extra two players, the NFL changed the rules of how much experience those two extra players can have to be eligible for the squad. The new rule states the extra two players can have up to 32 games on an active roster over their first two seasons and still be eligible for the practice squad.

So, basically any 2012 or 2013 rookies are now eligible to fill those two additional practice squad positions. That means tight end Michael Egnew, linebacker Jelani Jenkins and safety Don Jones are now practice squad eligible. Before this change all three struggling veterans would not be.

That means Binns could be on the practice squad as well. Still doesn't prevent other teams from plucking players from our practice squad though.

This is great.. Not sure whats keeping them from upping the 53 man Roster limit and how many players can dress on gameday limit.
This would be one of the best things the league can do to curb injuries. More Subbing = Less Fatigue = Less Injuries.

It should benefit every team. And its awesome for the 64 extra guys that will get paid to play football rather than having to flip hamburgers to make ends meet.

I'm always afraid of some of our PS guys getting snagged by another team...but, remember, any team that takes a PS player has to commit them to their active roster for at least 2 weeks. A team really has to like a player to take a guy from the PS.

Honestly, I think Binns would have a hard enough time getting through waivers to get on the practice squad, and even if he did might be one of the first candidates poached when some team gets a bit thin at WR.

He is definately canidate #1 for poaching and deservingly so... He is literally on the brink of becoming a NFL Caliber WR... I hate having to lose him.... I dont want to start a flame war here.. so i wont mention here how i rather waste a roster spot oh him then a certain other wr on this roster... i wont mention that here though. So I am just saying but I am not saying... know what I mean?

That certain other WR is getting paid to much and the cap hit would cause us to have to restructure some salaries next year just to sign the rookie class. Anyway, Binns hasn't done much in preseason so I don't know that he's on a lot of teams radars. Although I could see the Jets plucking him on a two birds with one stone deal. Get info from him and put him on their WR corp which I still think is pretty weak.

That's an interesting question, but I'd think more players in the roster means more money to be paid and owners probably don't want that. Or it might be a thing with the NFLPA, maybe giving them leverage to increase the cap.

The one that really makes me wonder is the "actives" limit. Where the heck did that come from and what sense could it possibly have? Those guys get paid just like everyone else, far as I know.

Far as the WR, be it Wallace or Hartline (they both have their haters), I'm pretty sure both will have better careers than Binns from this point on :)

53 is plenty for active unit and expanding practice squad is a good thing
