Brees-
Pros- Has won, is most ready to play well from the opening bell
Cons-won't come available most likely, would clog cap if he did

Rivers-
Pros-Great intangibles
Cons-has proven nothing yet, would cost a king's ransom in a trade, some say he has a weak arm

Ramsey-
Pros- has experience, would come cheap (no draft picks, probably lower salary)
Cons- couldn't thrive under good coach, took lots of hits

Carr-
Pros- if Texans cut him loose he also could be had for an incentive based deal, no picks
Cons-doesn't spot secondary receivers, holds ball too long has taken even more hits than Ramsey

Kitna-
Pros-experience, would allow Miami to win and develop young QB
Cons- if they aren't right on young QB, Kitna's shelf life is limited.

I think that if there is ever going to be a coach who picks the right QB it's Saban. His eye for talent is one of his best attributes. Sadly though I don't think we will draft a QB.

Good post, I agree. Some people post about not taking risks (Leinhart, Rivers, etc.) EVERY PICK AND FA IS A RISK...that's football in the NFL. "the devil's in the details"

David Carr was a number 1 overall pick in 2002. You think they are not going to want picks for him? HA!!

So you think they will take up his option and then franchise him? I do not think that makes too much sense.

Akili Smith, Tim Couch....both 1st overall picks let go for nothing. Its time for them to give up on him and everyone knows it. They cant pay him 8 mil and hes not going to take a pay cut. Options are cut or trade him for peanuts. No other team is going to take that 8 mil salary and give up a decent pick.

If Brees is out there, you have to pursue him. But it would be insane for the Chargers to let him go.

go with leinart or quinn.

no other teams washed up qbs. im sick of bringing in sub par qbs.

no. IF they pick up his option there is very little chance the texans will trade him. IF they let him go i dout they will franchise him. so he would be a FA. in that case, the fins should look at him.

i say Rivers is your best bet. the fins will probubly win atleast 3 more games this season. so its unlikly the top QBs will fall to them in the draft. and i dont think the fins want to give up more picks to trade up.

Put Steve McNair in there too. He's due a roster bonus that I don't think the Titans are going to pay. I think he, Kitna, and Ramsey are the most sensible options, with a QB drafted between rounds 2 and 4 sitting behind them in apprentice mode. They could also battle with Lemon for the starting spot next year.

Akili Smith wasn't a number 1 overall pick. In fact, he was in the same draft as Tim Couch. Smith was the number 3 overall pick. The number 2 pick was Mcnabb.

Ok, I will say this again, we CANNOT get Jon Kitna. He had one good year 2 years ago and taht's it. He would fit in the same mold as Fiedler and Ferotte. I guarantee it.

That's interesting. Would have to consider him. He'd be rejuvenated and could give a good season or two while the youngster is groomed.

Leinhart isn't going to happen if we win 2 more games (we will) and Quinn isn't coming out. Bank of that, he wants to win a NC with Weis. Vince Young is staying, Longhorns rarely leave early, they'd have to take a paycut.

Here's what I'd like. Bring in a guy like McNair and then take the best QB you can in round 2, whether it is Pinegar, Cutler or Olsen. Prospect ratings will change a lot over the next 4 months but those 3 guys probably won't be top 32 picks and we could really use some youth on D with that first pick

I messed up. I meant, "NOT take up his option". Which doesn't make much sense to franchise him after that.

o, then i agree with what you are saying.

I always believed Rivers to have a strong arm but some people here and and some scouting reports say otherwirse. My optimsm for him as dropped now since our offense needs a accurate deep ball thrower. Now I'm not sure who we should get. Although I don't think I can go through another aging veteran stop-gap QB like Kitna.
