CHATTER
• The new Dolphins regime, which sees potential in John Beck, wants him to develop his body (size, strength, etc.), and Beck hired a trainer to do that. Beck -- one of the first two players to meet with GM Jeff Ireland ( Jason Taylor was the other) -- plans to stay mostly in South Florida for offseason work, but plans a brief Alaskan fishing trip with Csonka for Csonka's outdoor show.
''I was impressed how quickly the ball came out of Beck's hands,'' said former Packers GM Ron Wolf, who watched the Dolphins' finale with friend Bill Parcells. ``He's got a very, very quick release and some mustard on the ball.''

I'd say Beck is 50/50 guy. He certainly won't be anything special this year. We need to sign a FA and draft a QB early and see how this thing plays out.

I agree. On reflection, I think he was a bad investment, given his age.

I do think he needs to bulk up a little. I hope wolf is right. I trust bill parcells to get it done.

Let's dispense with the uninformed remarks regarding Beck. Let's wait and see what the real experts say and not the arm chair QB's.

Tony Romo of the Cowboys wasn't exactly huge when he played for Parcells. Beck is listed as being 6'2" 215. Matt Baker who we just signed and who played for Parcells with Dallas is listed as being 6'2" 212 so that means he is suppose to bulk up too??

Bad investment? Well have you ever invested money in a stock? Very rarely does a stock become spectacular in less than a year. It's called patience my friend. I am not saying that he will be great but he deserves a chance. Personally I think he is a good one and our QB coach Mike Lee is a great guy to get him there

Not so sure if we're thinking the same, what you mean with "early"?
a) Early in this draft, maybe a first day pick???
b) "Early" like in the next two years???
c) Something else :err:

Thank... gawd... somebody is making sense here....

Generally it takes 3 years to produce a consistant NFL caliber QB... and yes there are exceptions.... and that's why "exception" is in the dictionary....

Give Beck time to develop... and now that we have a process and staff in place that will actually develop the position... the prospects look promising for Beck..

That said... imo... we need to draft a QB if there's a value fit.... somewhere in the top 64 picks...

And if Beck outplays this high draft pick QB you want? Then thats a total wasted pick...That would be an even bigger mistake then taking Beck (as some feel). We CANNOT give Beck any grade at all for his play in 2007. Putting a rookie in the situation he was placed in, a losing, horrbile team with NOTHING around him, starting him in his first games in extremely hostile conditions on the road in horrid weather, and then benching him when he failed (At no fault other than Cams)... We cannot come to a conclusion AT ALL (either good or bad) on Becks abilities so we might as well see what he has to offer and what he can given a fair opportunity to perform, which was something he wasnt given last year... I for one think he can succeed

everyone thought Brees was a bust, he is a top 5 NFL QB... Everyone thought Eli was a bust, he took his team to a superbowl victory in his 4th year

One thing I've noticed about Beck in his brief time in Miami is he has an incredible work ethic. Always doing whatever it takes to get better. You gotta love that.
