Man I don't know about a game suspension for 2 targeting fouls in one year. That seems excessive to me. I guess that would only have affected 8 players last year however.
Maybe 1st ejection. 2nd half game. 3rd full game. 4th end of season. Only one player had three calls in 2018.
Targeting in general seems extremely harsh. I have seen so many ejections where I mean the defender is just reacting and the way the offensive guy went down caused the defender to adjust and be put in a targeting type position to make the tackle.
Immediate ejection is just rough (plus sitting out a half) . . .was hoping they tweaked that . . . But at least “the call stands” is no longer an option and the whole play will be reviewed as if a call had not been made.
I think I rather them eject a player if called for targeting twice in the same game and then suspend him for the next game . . . .or an accumulation of 3 targeting penalties over the course of a year = 1 game suspension.
