Can anyone explain our new schemes that we are expected to run? For instance, what does Dan Henning run on the o side? Sporano said that he does things different with his receivers than anyone else...anyone know what that is? Also a lot of folks want us to get a good TE in the draft...from what I have read Henning essentially doesnt use TE's in the passing game...is this accurate? What Kind of blocking scheme does he like to run? Does he like the huge OL guys that Parcels does?

As for the D, I know that it should be a 3-4, but what nuances of the scheme has this staff run in the past? What kind of coverage schemes etc.. Any info on this is appreciated.

Dan henning is a run first guy...ironically his running attacks have been in the bottom half of the league while his pass offenses are actually pretty prolific. With Ronnie and Ricky, i wouldnt expect that to change any. Defensively, I dont believe anything Ive read about us not running a 3-4 scheme, based on the pickups we have had this off-season I would guess we will see a lot of disguised blitz packages from the both the inside and outside backers and zone coverage in the secondary based on coverage drops by the linebackers. In other words an ordinary 3-4 defense.

Thanks FatKirsty. Do you know if he favors a zone blocking scheme?

I know he was Carolina's offensive coordinator for awhile and that the run game here in Charlotte was never really top notch except when they went to the Super Bowl with Stephen Davis and DeShaun Foster. So hopefully he can get that same production from our 3 headed monster in the backfield ... Brown, Williams, and Booker.

Not too mention he was around for the beginning of a certain Steve Smith's career, and last i checked we have a receiver that has similar attributes to him ...

Hopefully he'll work some magic for us this season and years to come.

I like Henning. The Panthers we're aways fun to watch with him calling the plays. Stephen Davis was always a threat and Moose and Smith we're always in the hunt for Pro Bowls. He also like sto use his FB but usually left the TE in to block. So look for us to get a blocking TE soon.

I also can see Ginn schemed in a similar role. He ran a nice O with the skins as well back in the day but I don't recall that many details of it. He does have a nice history with getting QB production too which I hope translates here. I'm curious to see how he manages our backs with Lobook in the mix as well. We get some Oline and our O has a chance to develope pretty well.

Thanks G for the verification on the TE usage. Do you think our FB's are a fit with what he likes skill set wise?

From what I know about hennings offenses, he generally uses man on man blocking schemes. I think that portion of the offenses will be controlled by Sparano himself. Believing that, I think you can expect a lot of Man blocking. Which by the way is the best from of blocking for a runner like RB.

YES! Everyone is in love with Grigsby...but I really feel like Mauia is set for a Sam Gash type career. These guys are big, tough and can catch out of the b/field.

Actually he used kind of a H-back FB in Brad Hoover. Hoover did lots of motions and every once in a while would run routes out of that motion. He likes to use the FB as recieving threat in almost every pass play and leaves the HB to block alot of times.

Cool. I hope we have that guy on our roster. I dont see either one being as multi-dimensional as Brad Hoover.

His offense was pretty balanced. He worked well with what he had. I am hoping we bring in a Monster TE, that could just give him more to work with. He never had a star TE in his offense

I beleive he had Wesley Walls for few years and he changed his schee when Wesley retired. He seems pretty good at mixing it up according to what he has to work with.

I wouldnt rule out Sparano deciding which way the majority of our O-Line blocking schemes are being that he has been an O-Line coach for a very long time.

you will see a lot of man blocking on the o-line and the o-line will slide protection from side to side depending on defesive alignments or accounting for stud rusher on opposing D. on offense you will see a lot of bunching up of receivers running a lot of crossing and quick slants from this cluster formation.receivers will also be a big part of the blocking scheme on running plays. this will get dbs and lbs in hit mode expecting blocks and our recievers will run past them creating a quick seperation off the line and other times dbs and lbs will be in pass coverage mode and get caught off balance and our recievers will get good hits on them while blocking
