New 'Slash' makes his mark in the NFL(Wes Welker)

Welker reminds me so much of WR W. Chrebet, I get flashbacks everytime I see him streaking across the field. He's awesome, and will be a huge contributor this year. You can tell he and Culpepper already have a very tight connection.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Yeah I love Welker but really I'm not sure why he didn't get a whole lot of ink last year. As a 3rd WR with GUS FREROTTE throwing the ball, he caught 29 for 434 yards man. I mean, that's pretty damn good. I believe he even had a 100 yard game.

I remember last year I kept comparing him to Hines Ward...does all the little things right. He's not as hefty as Ward, so he may never become a genuine #1 or #2 guy, but he's going to be a playmaker for a long time. You can't coach the kind of presence of mind he displays every play.

Wes deserves all the recognition he has been getting.....good for him he plays hard.

I have said all along Welker reminds me of Wayne Chrebet, he's a beast and its about time he got some recognition. Much in the mold of Zach, incredibly hard working, always going full speed, does the little things, nobody out works him.

Now, I pray some of the many Welker-bashers who were saying he wouldn't even make the squad during TC, read this and recognize what we've been saying all along. Welker is one of my favorite players on the team.

not to mention that in the Madden 07 commercial, its wes welker that is on the receiving end of Culpepper's TD pass.

I'm still not sure who #35 was that tackles air against Chad Johnson, I think that was Deke Cooper's number but the back of his jersey looked like a shorter name than Cooper. I love Chad's commentary though "What is he jumping at?"

Short and white are the only real comparisons at this point, Chrebet was a key WR as a rookie. Welker is now in his 3rd year, he's not close to him as a WR YET.

We can only hope that Welker can turn into the WR that Chrebet was. I think that it is fair to say that he has the athletic capability to be as good. Whether he reaches that potential or is given the opportunity is another question. Chrebet was a very good reciever. ******* killed us several times. LOL

That and I don't remember Chrebet being a punt returner.

Unfortunately Wayne did return punts during his rookie year and he was terrible at it.

Welker never got a chance to be a receiver as a rookie. He was cut by the Chargers and picked up by the Fins on the eve of the season opener. He barely had time to learn our STs system, and they hardly even bothered giving him an offensive playbook since he got here so late.

His second year when he was actually given a chance to learn the offense, he rose to #3 WR in our system, caught 29 balls for 430 yards, converted a bunch of first downs, and I believe even had a 100 yard game at some point.

Lord knows if given the chance he could have been a "key" receiver in his rookie year. He was good in his 2nd year, and appears to be even better now.

The coaches probably thought since he was short and white he was the next Tim Dwight.

Chrebet was in the league 3 years before Dwight, so that is impossible...
