I haven't posted here in a while and I try not to get down on the Fins personnel moves, but is it me or does it seem like every year we blame the O line for our issues and yet every year we make all kinds of changes to a bunch of positions besides the O line. Here we are at the start of yet another season, in which I think we've made some decent moves, but yet we are staring at game 1 starting OG of Billy Turner & Dallas Thomas. I get we used our 1st Rd pick on an OG, and I thought it was a good move, but why not dedicate more to trying to give our "franchise" QB some more protection? Sorry guys, I just don't get it!

Personnel wise, the starters are the same as the projected starters as last year.

But this is just the first preseason game.

We've added the most talented lineman in the draft. We added veterans at Guard/Tackle to insure the depth, we get Branden Albert coming back from a healthy offseason.

Remember last year Juwan got hurt as well. Health has been the biggest drag from our group and we've increased depth. Isn't this team like 6-1 when the OLine, yes the one that includes Thomas/Turner, healthy?

Plus a new coaching staff

I mean some form of patience needs to be had all things considered . . . but at least it's Tunsil and Bushrod, instead of Linkenbach and Fox, if injuries happen.

The line has 4 1st rounders on it now. If they don't improve this year they all have to be replaced.

I keep asking myself the same thing. Everyone's response is "give them time to gel". How many years do we have to wait? Same goes for CB, RB and LB. If they are good they don't need years to be good.

we do seem alot better prepped for injuries this year, which really sent the oline into a dumpster fire last year.

I think that O-line room needs a new culture. The leader(s) of that room have a very laid-back, non-urgent approach. Pouncey is a good center no doubt, but I don't think he's providing the right kind of leadership for the line. BA is a fine player when healthy, but he too hasn't really demanded results from his teammates. I've never gotten the sense there's a lot of accountability in that room...just an "oh well, I guess we'll try to get better" kind of attitude.

I don't understand this train of thought. Why not just replace the ones that aren't getting the job done? For example if Pouncey and Tunsil are doing a decent job and everyone else stinks why should we get rid of Tunsil or Pouncey?

I blame the play calling as much as I do the players. We have had a o-line that has struggled in pass protection but was decent at run blocking, we had a running back who was always a good back in the first half but would never be utilized in the 2nd half, and we were always abandoning the run. It was just idiotic.

We are simply throwing the ball way too much and allowing opposing defenses to send the horses every time because they know we won't run it.

a more balanced offense will cure 50% of our issues immediately. At least defenses would have to be honest.

Considering Tunsil is now on the line and possibly Bushrod, both of whom are new as is the offensive scheme and majority of the coaching staff. Gelling unfortunately still needs to occur whenever there's a regime change.

If you had the same line for 5 years and they continued to "allow" 40-50 sacks a year, you don't want to replace them? I'm not talking about Tunsil at this point b/c he's new.

Sounds like they did OK today. Let's see how they do in a game situation.

I would still get rid of the ones that are a problem. Not the one that do their job. Why not say we should cut all 53 players because the team as a whole has struggled in recent years?

I just love burning first round draft picks on guys that can't start...
