All you people who keep posting bring in Vinny or bring in whomever need to stop these posts. You cannot bring in a QB 3 weeks into Training camp and expect them to be successfull. Gus and AJ are our QB's this year deal with it. How can a QB come into an offense without knowing the system, the plays and the terminology and be successfull. There is nobody out there that would have any chance at succeeding. Why cant you people understand that QB is not a position in which you could just pick someone up off the street and plug em in there and think they would do any better than the players that have been practicing all along. It takes time to learn the plays and where all the players are supposed to be on the field. Not to mention the timing that the QB and recievers need to have which is only gained by PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Yet some of you keep clamoring for Vinny cause he can still throw the deep ball. Right now Brock Berlin would be a better choice for QB than any QB we could possibly get.
All we can do is hope that AJ and Gus will improve with more repetitions in practice.

Right right, you are right with what you are saying, but the idea of waiting to the end of next year to draft someone and then wait a year or maybe two for him to get used to the speed of the NFL is too long. Right now we are looking bad, so maybe if we offered SD a 1st for Rivers they would think they might have a shot at getting the #1 overall pick. Rivers has been around the NFL for a year and could sit most of the year learning our system and by the end of the year might have a chance to get in late in games and get some PT. By the start of next year we could have our starter and a QB for the future. We would be saving money and saving one maybe two years before we could groom a QB that we drafted. Rivers is a lot better than any QB coming out next year, and he would cost a lot less than what we would have to pay a top pick QB. That is what we are saying. You are right, whoever we get will not be much help this year, but we have NOBODY right now. Gus is getting a little long in the tooth and is clearly the best of what we have right now.
I am sure you or anyone else can't think AJ is the long term answer, right?? All we are saying is why not speed up the process if we can.

So you think that bringing someone in now is actually a situation in which anyone could be successfull.

You should watch more football because you dont know what your talking about.

True we need a QB of the future, but I feel there is no need to pick someone else up this yr. Phillip Rivers isn't worth giving up a 1st rd pick.

Also, keep in mind that you don't need a great QB to win a superbowl - all you need is a solid defense, good running game, and an efficient QB who minimizes mistakes - Baltimore Ravens did it with Trent Dilfer - come on!

I thought he was complimenting you.

No I dont think AJ is the answer. I dont think there is an answer. To say that Rivers is alot better than Leinhart is just not right. And who knows who will step up and play great this year in college. How many people even heard of Rivers before his senior year? How many people thought Smith would go #1 this year? Fact is nobody knows who will step up and play great. I understand everyone wants a winner now but sometimes its just not possible. If we were to get the #1 overall pick next year (which I hope we dont) I would rather have Lienhart than Rivers. So im not real interested in trading for Rivers before we know what is going to happen.

Easy there Armyfinfan
Youre post is 100% acurate, Iwas taking a shot at the posters who are trying to dig up any washed up old Q.B. and throw him in.

My bad Welder it went over my head I cant think straight with all these stupid Vinny posts.

By the way I see your in Port ST. Lucie are you a Mets fan? They just lost a heartbreaker with Pedro's almost no hitter.

Ok, so a
QB can't be successful if brought in now ( true but negative), the preseason games mean nothing (true but negative) and all we should do is HOPE that AJ or GUS get better.

I'll side with the posters who like to think about the issues and try a hand at problem solving. I would rather have so called negative thoughts than sit back and wait and assume the problems will get solved by hoping. I am sure that is not a winning formula.

Not only should we look for the QB answer now, not next season (that does not mean the answer is out there right now), we are 5 years to late.
