A person close to the situation has given me some info, and I'm going to share it here because this is the premium board.
Anyway, the program started a few weeks ago. The last two players who showed up were Vernon Carey and Rex Hadnot, both of whom are grossly overweight at this point. Carey reported at 370 while Hadnot reported at 350.
The word is that the program is very tough and has the players working out 5 days a week. He said that things are so tough, that someone may report the coaching staff to the NFL.
He also stated that it looks like the coaches are giving Vernon Carey every opportunity to start somewhere along the line, and the only thing that will keep him out of the line up is if he flat out cannot play.
You would think that a guy like Vernon Carey, with the golden opportunity he has, would come into the offseason program in better shape than he is. Something tells me that this guy just flat out doesn't have the desire to be great.
