News on QBs and Big Ears!!

Yes, he is your backup. He should have been ours, but he was our starter. That's the point, he isn't a starter in this league, yet for 5 years this was our guy. As for our failure in big games, of that there is not doubt. It had a lot to do with coaching. In playoffs, schemes and adjustments become paramount, even more so than the regular season.. Our coaching staff was ill equipped to say the least when the stakes were at their highest. This fact, plus Fiedler spelled doom.

Maybe he should hve been a backup but you have 2 guys right now who are both backups.

So you had a problem w/ Shula in his last decade and w/ JJ in his years there too, right? Under Shula in the 90s the dolphins began their December fades and couldn't win in the playoffs and were crushed in their only AFC Title game at home, JJ was humiliated out of the playoffs every year as well. Are you like most of the fans here blaming everything on DW or do you admit that it goes beyond DW?

That plus Fiedler spelled doom? What about when JJ was the coach and Marino the QB? You guys were outscored in 3 years 117-13. That was DW and Fiedler's fault too, right? :shakeno:

It is just absolutely HYSTERICAL how Jets fans are now proclaiming that Fiedler is the greatest thing since sliced bread (or something to that effect) now that he's a Jet!!

I am not proclaiming him great but he is alot better than you guys give him credit for and he's better than what you got now and he's one of the bst backups in the league. By the way, check the archives I am sure I argued about Fidelr last year when he was a dolphin. I have always thought he was underrated and dolphin fans were too harsh w/ him b/c he followed a legend.

What is the point of Bills/Jets fans coming on here when they never agree with anything we have to say? That's all I want to know.

Maybe if some of you wer realistic we'd agree? Nobody outside of homer dolphin fans think miami will be a double diiit win team and playoff or SB bound. You would think you guys had the most talented team in the league last year but DW ruined it for you and now that you have a "real" coach you are going to cruise through the AFC East.

Are you SERIOUSLY one to talk about injuries!!?? How many frikkin injuries did we have, and we still beat you?? Lame excuse

You did? Are you really a dolpihn fan? You don;'t know we swept you last year and swept you for the 5th time in 7 years?

Big ears has a better coaching staff and a WCO that seems to suit him better. He may come back to haunt you.

Don't think so. He's historically had his worst games against well coached defenses. In fact, in those games he has been rendered completely useless.

Oh you allowed us to sneak in  What did he do in the 4th qtr? He allowed NE to score all those points? What about your supposed big time D? They don't get blame?.

You were in third place the whole year till the last game of the season...

nyjunc said:
No doubt? Then why when McNabb was out did Detmer start? If your theory is correct about the holder situation they could have had Koy as the backup to Feeley but Feeley didn't play until Koy got hurt.

Doug Pederson started over McNabb for six games; Does that mean Pederson was better?......

I understand why you want to defend Feidler, whith Penny being on the IR every year. Jay is a good BACKUP that is all, he has physical limitations to his game that will show in ANY system or Scheme. And that is besides the fact that Jay himself can't stay healthy for a entire season. You know what, I'll Stop criticizing your qb, Jay and Penny should make for a formidable two headed qb monster......

After we beat you in midseason we were a game out of 1st place. We struggled the first month b/c of a ton of injuries but once we got healthy and Chad came in we took off and the week before you lost to NE we went up there on a Sun Night and whipped them and that was the last team to win a game at Foxboro.

Mcnabb was a rookie on a bad football team.

Would you rather have your QBs or ours?

I don't like to deal in "ifs" but I believe if we beat NE, the jets would've been sitting home.

Feeley was a young QB on a Veteran rich football team. So you're implying that Koy Detmer was/is a better qb that feeley, if that's what you beleive that's ok, but just say so, so that I know who I'm dealing with....

To be honest, neither. Penny is injury prone and has suspect arm strentgh and also should've progressed further than he has. Feidler is nothing more than a solid backup . Ferrotte is a career backup. Feeley, so far, is a erratic qb w/ poor pocket presence. I don't drink the kool aid and you shouldn't either regarding Jay.....

He never played for a well coached offense. Don't let Norv fool you. Wanny had the final say.

and IF you beat Buf and IF you beat Minny and IF you beat us at the Meadowlands you would have been in as well but you didn't and we did beat NE at NE 6 days earlier.

I think they are similar backup type QBs, no i don't think Feeley is better and I would rather have Koy as my backup as Philly did. Do you think if Philly thought AJ would be better they would have traded him and kept Koy?

Pennington had 2 freak injuries, he's not injury prone and he returned quicker than expected from both. The man has played in at least 3/4 of games in 2 of his 3 seasons as a starter and has led us to a div title and the div rd twice and he led the NFL in passing once. Chad is a top 5 caliber starting QB when healthy, jay is a solid backup while Feeley hasn;t proven anything and Gus can be a solid backup.

See, now your'e losing me. Philly would have much rather had Feeley as their backup. The fact is they swindled a 2nd round pick out of us. If they could've gotten a 2nd or 3rd or 4th for Detmer he would have been gone in a minute. BTW you know Herm called philly about AJ the year before they traded him to the phins right? When he heard the price he hung up.(probably laughing)

Woah, let's get some perspective here. Chad is pretty good, but HE IS NOT TOP 5 caliber or otherwise. Peyton(playoff perfomance included), Duante, McNabb (SB performance and all), Farve (age and ints included), Brady. ish, depending on the offense being run Delhomme, Green and Penny is a toss up.
The assement of the other qbs is a repost of what I just said. Feilder is a backup who was our STARTER, and that on the surface was our problem, he has his part in us winning a ton of game and is a tough qb. But he has physical limitation that WILL show at the most inoppurtune times as you will see. Jay WILL be on the feild for you guys this year....

we inquired about AJ as Vinny's backup while Chad was hurt, we didn't inquire about him to be a starter. A 2nd rd pick is not that big of deal if they think he was better than Koy. If they were that high on him they never would have dealt him.

He hasn't played a full season since he's become the fulltime starter....

He wasn't hurt in '02 he just came in during Game 4 and played the rest of the year.

In 2002 he was the 2nd best QB in the league behind Gannon, when healthy he cand efinitely be a top 5 QB. The only 2 QBs I'd take ahead of Chad are Brady & Manning, after that Chad can be as good as anyone.

I hate to break the news to you but 2nd round pick's are gold, who in the world would justify using a 2nd round pick on a qb by stating he's better than Koy Detmer. Andy Reid or Herm would trade thier moms for a 2nd rounder.

That's nice......He hasn't played a full 16 games since he became the fulltime starter.....

It's 2005 and Gannon doesn't play football anymore.

That was funny. Seriously though, next time use a smiley b/c someone might think you were serious...

Unless he becomes some else next week,No. He can't.

Ummm how has Chad looked this year so far? It doesn't look like your "super" qb is bouncing back from rotator cuff surgery as quickly as the coaching staff would have liked. Is he throwing footballs yet? can he handoff without Pain?? how 'bout taking snaps? Thank god for Curtis Martin, right? If Jay starts the season, which is looking more and more likely, don't be surprised when Defenses stack the line w/ 8 man fronts and force Jay to throw over top of them. And then don't be surprised when d backs start feilding jay's passes like they were punts....

you keep on mentioning the playoffs, yet Fiedler got all his "wins" during the regular season.

This arguement has no validity to how well the defense played during the season.

You need to stop hating all the way around man. I've yet to see you give any credit where any credit is due for both QB's, all you do is badmouth like an irrational upset football fan.

AJ had put up good nos. against us when the team was still eating chicken wings. The bills had the best 2nd half D in the league. When they decided to turn it on, they expossed AJ for what he is, a 3rd string qb.

oh really? i guess the bills D forgot to turn it on when it REALLY MATTERED WEEK 17, against a bunch of second stringers...just thought i'd throw that out there

Yup, they did. We got beat by the Pitts bench. Now back to topic, Aj was made to look like the 3rd stringer that he is when the bills finally decided they'd seen enough.
