NFL | Kornheiser ready for announcing debut
Thu, 13 Jul 2006 18:56:59 -0700
Barry Jackson, of the Miami Herald, reports an ESPN official who heard one of the two rehearsal games for
ESPN's new NFL broadcasting team said Tony Kornheiser challenged Joe Theismann, sprinkled in humor and
asked questions that the typical analyst wouldn't. In one instance, Mike Tirico mentioned basketball player
Jai Lewis, who is hoping to become an NFL tight end. Kornheiser asked Theismann if basketball players can
make that transition (like San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates has); could Shaquille O'Neal become a
defensive lineman? (Theismann was more skeptical than Kornheiser about that.)
