Newsday: Dolphins worst team in the NFL

This is a rebuilding year for Miami. But few expect the Dolphins to be the worst team in the league. I think Miami, with its defense, can be a tough out most weeks. Its offense just won't score enough to win many games. I view Miami more as a six-win team.

Is Walker trying to set the record for saying the same thing almost every single week?

Not really, Miami's defense underperformed early on, but by years end, Miami had the superior defense......1 rookie RB is not normally going to instantly make you a good running team, no matter how dominant

Uh huh...so the Dolphins defense that gave up 93 points (23.25 ppg) in the last 4 games was better than the Browns defense that gave up 67 (17.75 ppg)...thanks for clearing that up. I am not saying the Dolphins had a bad defense, just they aren't any better than the Browns. Dolphins better against the run, Browns better against the pass.

History of the NFL is full of quality RBs leading to a good running team in their rookie season...there is a reason RBs have been rookie of the year 10 of the last 18 years. Ever hear of players like Dickerson, Sanders, Peterson, etc...although the trend has moved to QBs the past few years. You're just wrong if you think a great RB can't improve a team's running game.

Relying on a Rookie, really?...good luck with that. MJD is a very good RB, forgot about him. Still Like Miami's chances more.

Uh huh...tell me Dolphin fans wouldn't be proclaiming Blackman the offensive rookie of the year and Miami wouldn't have a decent group of WRs had Blackmon landed on the Dolphins...A.J. Green, Julio Jones have shown a WR are ready to make an immediate impact. Without a doubt Blackman is better than any WR Miami has on its roster. As long as he keeps his alcohol consumption under control.

Yes, actually I did, did you know that Miami had 1 of the top defenses the year before, or that they had the Mark brothers at receiver, or that that they had one of the best pass-catching RB in the league....you didn't? Well now you do.

 I see, it was Nathan, the Mark brothers and the defense that led to Marino throwing 48 TD passes and 5,084 yards. I am sure Don Strock would have had the same success in 1984. Thanks for teaching me something I didn't know.

Seriously, were you even around during the 1984 season? Have you watched any film of Marino's ability to maneuver in the pocket, make a lighting quick decision and release the football, put it on the money 30-40 yards down the field? If you really think that was everyone else on the team as to why Miami went from 24.3 ppg his rookie year to 32.1 ppg...okay.

Interesting how you say not to compare Newton who only had the best season ever for a rookie QB (35 TDs pass + run) to Marino, but then say Miami's offensive success in Marino's second year wasn't because of him...so which is it?

Did you actually watch the Bucs, records tells you very little, this is why a team that had a bad record the year before all of a sudden is able to play much better the next year.

I was just pointing out you don't have your facts straight...you say the Bucs are getting worse every year, yet over the last 5 years they have gone 9-7, 9-7, 3-13, 10-6, 4-12...inconsistent "yes" getting worse every year "no."

The Bucs had some key injuries last year particularly at DT and Earnest Graham along with Freeman not playing as well in 2011, but the Bucs have also added Vincent Jackson, Carl Nicks, Eric Wright, Amobi Okoye which are far and above Miami's free agent signings this year.

In the AFC East the Pats are leaps and bounds above everyone. This will be a wire to wire runaway to the division title, Pats fans can already be talking about home field advantage and a first round bye before TC even starts.

They do this every year because they do this every year

Newsday.. Cheaper than buying ceader chips for the bottom of ( pet of choice)'s cage. Please ... what's next?-- People reading Time or watching CNN for accurate or the very least relevant news?

True but in 09 you could make a case for the Fins as they won the East the year before and Brady was coming off a major injury. In 10 you could make a case for the Jets as they went deeper into the playoffs in 09 then the Pats did and in 11 you could also make a case for the Jets as they went into Foxboro in 10 and knocked NE out of the playoffs. I really don't see how anyone can make a case for the Jets, Bills or Fins in 12 with a straight face, unless Brady going down is part of it.

Until the Jets, Dolphins, or Bills win the division and get to/win the Super Bowl, none of them matter.

Wonderful job cherry-picking your stats there, how about we compare the defenses over the whole 16 game season and not just the one stretch of the season that serves your purpose? The Browns were 5th in points per game and the Dolphins were 6th (19.2 pts/g to 19.6 pts/g), however if the Browns had to play the Pats twice a year I think we can all agree they would be several spots down the list.

Newsday is the Long Island newspaper. That should tell you all you need to know.

around here it's not like college towns like Orchard park, NY. The media isn't rooting for their local teams.

Worst in the NFL? BS!!! Typical NY media hate for south florida teams
