Listening to the micheal Irvin show with guest Alex Marvez they made some great points for getting this guy, currently the OC for Carolina! And a case against retreads in Cowher and Gruden. I have to admit their case sounds very very good...basically a Young offensive mind for todays game, whereas the Cowhers and the Grudens and the Parcells more or less the game has passed them by. Interestingly they were talking about how Cam Newtons success obviously is somewhat surprising but their is a creativity in the way the offense is designed by the OC. Gents please listen to the interview...lets talk about it

CHARLOTTE - The Panthers have hired another member of the San Diego Chargerscoaching staff, naming Rob Chudzinski as their offensive coordinator on Tuesday.
Chudzinski and head coach Ron Rivera both were on the San Diego staff last season - Chudzinski helping the Chargers rank No. 1 in the NFL in total offense as assistant head coach/tight ends coach, and Rivera helping the Chargers rank No. 1 in total defense as defensive coordinator.
"I have worked with Rob and know that he is a very good offensive coach who possesses a strong knowledge on that side of the ball," Rivera said. "I have seen him work with players, and he has the communication skills and expertise to make a most positive contribution to our coaching staff as offensive coordinator."
Chudzinski, 42, has previous experience as an offensive coordinator in the NFL with theCleveland Browns – on two different occasions. In his first year in the NFL (2004), he served as tight ends coach for the Browns under current University of North Carolina head coach Butch Davis before ending the season as interim offensive coordinator after Davis resigned midseason.
Chudzinski next headed to San Diego for two seasons as tight ends coach, only to return to Cleveland to serve as offensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008 before landing back with the Chargers. In 2007, the Browns ranked eighth in the NFL in total and scoring offense.
A standout tight end on University of Miami teams that won national titles in 1987 and 1989, Chudzinski has worked with tight ends since beginning his coaching career at his alma mater in 1994.
He mentored the likes of Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow II and Bubba Franks in his 10 seasons at Miami, a stay that included three seasons as offensive coordinator (2001-03) before Chudzinski brought his talents to the NFL.
Throughout his two stints in San Diego, Chudzinski coached perennial Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates.

We need an experienced guy that knows how to motivate.

No thank you.

Can you give me more of a reason than that? I thought they made some excellent points

We need an experienced guy that knows how to motivate.

Are you suggesting hes a coach that doesnt know HOW to motivate ?

Im all for it. We need a young guy that can motivate and create. Those older coach's time has come and gone. Looking at those guys past successes is exactly what it is, THE PAST. We need the future. Its a what have you done for me lately league, plain and simple.

Hmmm, interesting choice. I would have to see some interviews and more of the Carolina offense before making a decision, but it sounds better than getting retreads.

Unfortunately the previous posters i dont think got that. What do you think a coach especially like Cowher is going to bring to the table? Honestly how much different is his pedigree from parcells? I dont its not that much different....havent we tried this formula already?

I respectfully disagree. We need to stop with these mediocre guys and get us a guy who knows what he's doing. Cowher and Gruden have proven they know what they're doing. Chudzinski or however you spell it, is an OC...for Carolina. I dont think this team should take any more "chances" on someone who could do well and could not do well. It's time to get someone who "will" do well.

Exactly! Do you really think Cam Newtons success is all on his own? Based on what your witnessing wouldn't you feel somewhat comfortable have this guy as your Head Coach taking and developing someone like Luck or Berkeley or Jones? Based on what newton is currently doing in the league. Hell at the very least we will address the TE position with him

How did Jimmy Johnson, Wannastash, Parcells work out?

He is the guy I wanted for OC last offseason.

This franchise needs to bring another BIG Name/Coach/GM.....give 1 guy absolute power.... so theres only 1 guy held accountable. Someone who has proven they can win the NFL. No college coaches... no no names... etc.

Not sure about Chud. Seems like Cam Cameron all over again to me.

One thing's for sure, with him, we'll never, ever have to see god awful TE's on the field. No more Mastruds, and Haynos, and all the other bums ever again.
