Good interview. If Jeff stays he would be a good option. He's done a great job with Cam.
 
IMO it doesn't matter if it is a successful previous coach (Parcells, Wanny, Jimmy) or a unknown coach (Sparano and the 1-15 coach) because we have failed with both. It's 50/50 we succeed with whomever we get. Personally the idea of this guy at Carolina is more interesting to me than a Cowher because he will have fresh and current philosophies for today's NFL. This approach might be best IF he has a great personel guy as GM evaluating talent for him.

NO doubt he does..the problem is can this coach succeed in todays NFL? D-fensively sure..offensively tho? I doubt it he can on that side of the ball! isn't he JJ,Wannstach, parcells all over agin?

That's why you have offensive and defensive coordinators. Is Rob just another Cam or Saban or Sparano?
 
Last time I checked the last two Super Bowl winning head coaches were offensive coordinators first. So they can be successful as head coaches. It takes a strong personality for it to work though. Cam Cameron didn't have that personality and neither does Norv Turner.
 
I love how people say no more coordinators when the only coordinator we've hired in... ever with no HC experience in the NFL was Cam Cameron, who failed miserably as the HC of the Hoosiers.

Look, great coaches have to start somewhere. The last 3 Super Bowl winning coaches never had HC experience; hell Tomilin had 1 year as a DC. McCarthey was seen as an awful hire.

I'm amazed people want a big hire and not the RIGHT hire
 
Something to consider. We have not had a coach with ANY head coaching experiance in the NFL since Jimmy.
Here's the list Wanny , Bates ,Sabin , Cam , Tony. Exactly ZERO HC experiance when they got the job.
This favors a Cowher type with playoff wins and a trophy. I think we thought we where getting that with Parcells.
Not his dissappearing act.

isnt it going to depend on who peterson wants? i am not going to say who should or shouldnt but if between cowher and chud i pick cowher.

I just do not have that loving feeling from cowher that he would take this job. alot of pressure and the fans basically suck. nothing like pittsburgh. sorry, just being factual. cowher or anyone else will never fill this stadium on a regular basis. the market just sucks. which makes the situation always look sick when you lose.
