Next year, who is our CARETAKER qb?

Assuming we bring in a young QB, who would be our caretaker QB next year? I can't imagine Gus would be our caretaker 1 more year or else Saban would take SOOOO much heat for basically saying that 5-11 will be okay for next year.

1. Jon Kitna
2. Steve McNair
3. Kurt Warner
4. Other????

If we go "youth", then maybe we pick up:

1. David Carr / no caretaker required
2. Phillip Rivers / no caretaker required
3. Draft a QB / Definite caretaker required for > 1-2 years

So which way are we going? Predictions? I wouldn't mind signing Kitna to 2-3 years while grooming a young QB to take over either during or after he's done here in Miami. But I wouldn't mind McNair or Warner for the right price either.

put in leinart or quinn if we get either one.

if get a 2nd round qb or later, use veteran (NOT GUS) for half year to a year and then put in rookie. the veteran i want for a year is kitna.
 
I think if we draft a qb then the best option is to do what the gina ts did with manning, the rookie can sit for about half a season before replacing frerotte and while i'm sure they'll be growing pains at least the qb isn't then completely green going into there 2nd season thus avoiding a losman style fiasco
 
i think leinart would be a starter or if not him and quinn would start in about week 6ish 7.
 
I'd go with Kitna, McNair and Warner are close to done.

gus will be here and starting till the new qb (free agent or draft pick) beats him out.

Everyone just assumes we will go with a caretaker route. Just because some teams have done it doesn't me we will. And to assume that we will sign another journeyman and cut Frerotte just because you don't like him is absurd. Think about it, did all your hate and posting against Fiedler lead to his realease??? Nope! Gus will be here next year (probably competing against Lemon and a Rookie) no matter how much we hate him. Sorry to burst your bubble, but this way you won't get upset when it really does happen.

Also, this offseason stuff should be put on the back burner IMO. We still have 6 games to watch the best draft pick since Marino play.
 
My money is on....

GUS FREROTTE! Seriously.. If we get a rookie, might as well have him learn from a guy who "knows the system" (even though he cant complete many passes) rather than bringing in yet another guy who doesnt know the system.

What has this guy EVER done? Name ONE thing!

Kitna=GUS FREROTTE. Period.

Go after Rivers or Carr or Ramsey and be DONE with it, for crying out loud! Quit this worrying about "caretakers" and get a guy who we KNOW can play if we can't (or won't) get Leinart.

The guy has a better arm and is solid and had 2 great years where Frerotte never had a good year
 
I think we should get younger at QB.....Maybe bring in Vinny...or Bradshaw....he should be available.
