And, just as expected, the many team-based proposals did not get enough votes to pass

About time on disallowing chop blocks.
Incognito won't know what to do...
How does the NFL expect offenses to stop these defensive tackles now?
There isn't enough quality Olineman to match up with the athletic DT's in today's NFL without chop blocking. And the tight ends are going to be toast.
I don't think the NFL thought this one through.
Imagine these running backs trying to go straight up against an incoming DT.
QBs are dead...
Good thing we have the 'protect the QB' target zones in place...
I think you're mixing up cut blocks and chop blocks. A RB can still "cut" a free rusher, and TE can still cut a DE. Just can't "chop" someone that's already engaged with another blocker. Chopping below the waist was already illegal, and the just extended it to all chop blocks.I really think NFL has lost there minds with this rule.
I like a defensive game but this could get out of hand.
How do you stop JJ Watt when he no longer has to worry about anyone shooting at his knees?
How does a running back stop Von Miller coming free off the edge?
No matter how good your oline is you can't stop these guys, without chop blocking, I have no clue how offenses will adjust.
Even on screen plays, your tight ends and WRs will chop block often those plays are going to get blown up left and right. This rule probably has a far bigger effect than is being anticipated.

Most of what you take issue with is still legal. You can still cut a guy as long as he's not engaged with another blocker and he's within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage.
No worries. Happy to pass along the one or two useful bits of info floating around in my head lolThanks for explaining the difference, that makes a lot more sense.
