NFL.com's first Power Rankings of the new league year

ruckus we were 8-8last year and missed the playoffs for the 5th straight year and 12th out of the last 13 years. we had 10 picks, 5 in the first 3 rounds and what do we have to show for it? and we spent more than any other team in free agency. argue that.

You seem to enjoy the self loathing. Sorry, I see the arrow pointing up. I'm happy with the direction of our team and can state the good things that are there. The defense is one of those good things.

17 is a good projection at this point. Lets see what happens in the upcoming months.

Pats Pre-Season Rankings always remind me when Notre Dame gets automatic Top 25 Rankings in NCAAF because of the name.

Ummm, they are ranked four, and they are one of FOUR teams that made it to a conference championship game last year. How do you figure they got that ranking based on NAME???

We also have a new GM, already a better line than last year, a new OC (ya know because 90 percent of this board agreed Sherman sucked) players coming back from injuries and other new coaches to add to that. Benton is highly regarded across the league, that will help our oline improve. Brandon Albert is lightyears better than McKinnie and Martin so that helps protect Tannehills blindside. These points about the picks and free agents that were signed were on Jeff Ireland.....I don't think he is the General Manager anymore, unless you know differently.

I can't see how we are ranked 17th. We have no OL, very bad LBs, one of the worst RB situations in the league. We have no blocking TEs and a WR core that will scare no one. We have time and money to get better before the season gets here but as we stand right now I can't see us in the top 20, more like 23-25.

Ranking us that high has to be from possible potential, not on talent that has been proven.

Albert and pouncey is a good start. Shelly Smith will help with our run game hopefully and we also have the draft to improve our line. We have an incomplete o-line because we have alot of free agency left. Look at some of the teams below us who are still scrambling for pieces as well. I honestly think they are going off of Tannehill improving and us picking up more pieces throughout the rest of the offseason.

hard to be positive after the last 13 years, very hard. i bleed dolphin and hate that every single move this team makes im skeptical about. it just seems like it never changes and we're never a team that should be taken seriously.

So guys with down years never rebound?

And inconsistent rookies never improve. Players who put up crazy stats in college always put up crazy stats in the NFL. And vice versa.

yada yada blah blah. Nobody has patience. Dealing with a bunch of JG Wentworths here

ITS ALL ABOUT STATS AND I WANT IT NOW

Agreed. It's tough I know. And yet, I am just that. Positive about the upcoming season. I can't fully explain why, I just am. I do like the moves Hickey has made in FA. I'm excited to see what we walk away with in the draft.

17 sounds about right, that's where the average teams are. We beat a few top teams, and turn around and lose to a few bottom teams.

I expect to see them climb the rankings as the season progresses. It would be great if we could start the season the same way we did last year, with some W's. :

Wins are the only power poll that matters.

You are what your record says.

What Reshad Jones still plays for us? Didn't see him alllllll last season..
