NFL. COM's NFL Coach of the Year rankings Top 5

Who would you bump for Gase tho?

Seems like a pretty fair list tbh
I agree although if we make the playoffs with 10+ wins, Gase would have to be in the convo...

Got to take Andy Reid and Bill Belicheck off the list as they typically find success each year

Caldwell?

If I remember the stat correctly and I dont think I do (close enoigh though) the Packers have outscored their last 3 or 4 opponents by some 50 some points. The Lions have outscored their opponents by 45 points... for the year.

Cant really argue with the rest IMO. Im just glad belicheat is not #1 because he has a very strong case to be #1.

Good question. I dont have a good answer. I would maybe say Belichick but only bc the Pats are expected to be good year in and year out.

With him winning despite Brady and Gronk missing time at different times in the season, that qualifies him imo..

I'd punt Garrett off that list. I don't think I'm giving him much credit for this turnaround. Same goes for Jim Caldwell. Gase and McAdoo/Koetter are probably the guys I'd push onto the list.

There is a lot of really good coaching going on this year...and some bad coaching as well...

Gase is juuuuust outside the list, kind of like the Dolphins current playoffs status.

It certainly is up for debate.

Hard for me to take Caldwell off when they lost Megatron to start the year.
Chiefs have a great D, but with all those injuries on offense, Reid does a great jobl
Still don't know how Belichek does it every year
Raiders team just have a different identity under Del Rio.

I agree with FTB that if there is one you have to punt, it would be Garrett, but personally I would keep him on my list.

Gase is right there tho and a playoff berth it would be hard to keep him out.

My thought is who's got the least to work with and how much have they had to overcome? To me Caldwell's success is directly correlated to the promotion of Jim Bob Cooter. That offense has been transformed under him and I think he's the only reason a career mediocre coach is looking so shiny right now. Garrett's body of work entering this season speaks volumes to me, the fact that they fell into Prescott doesn't exactly lead me to giving them a huge amount of credit.

Andy Reid has done a great job, but we know what he is and he's coming off an 11-5 season. He's always been a great regular season coach but he's got a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball and his special teams have bailed his teams out a lot thanks to Tyreek Hill.

Belichick had to win without Brady for 4 weeks and really should win the award every year. But he still does have Brady and runs a team that is as as stable as any in football. This team is a perennial playoff team, and I think the award should go more to the coach who has had the most to turnaround and the least to work with.

Jack Del Rio is a no brainer for me, he's near the top for me.

Gase has turned a perennial loser around in just one season. He's had injuries at every level and generally is working with a pretty talent deficient roster. Dirk Koetter has done a great job getting Winston to play at a high level even with limited difference makers on offense outside of Evans. Ben McAdoo is another guy who has done a great job, but really that team's turnaround can be attributed to the investment they made in their defense. It's not like they re-did this offense which is his specialty and the Giants have instilled a winning culture for a long-time.

I'd rank them:

1. Jack Del Rio
2. Adam Gase
3. Bill Belichick
4. Dirk Koetter
5. Andy Reid

Jack Del Rio and Reggie McKenzie deserve credit for turning around a team that was in awful straits. I agree that Wood Choppin' Jack deserves strong consideration for Coach of the Year.

I would say Gase easily has as much right as Caldwell to be up there. Hell you could just about put gases name and leave the description the same.
