well. who knows? we will see. i dont know if id be happy or what. but i do know this. whoever saban says is the pick is who ill support. saban showed his draft prowess. honestly. who outside of lsu or sec fans ever heard of travis daniels? crowder got nothing but raised eyebrows. manny was nothing but a cry baby. so on and so forth. now look at them. ronnie has been a stud. travis has at times gone man to man against some pretty darn good receivers and more than held his own. crowder has not only been a stud but i also heard that when zach got hurt he was calling the plays for the defense. manny. well i dont think there are alot of o-lineman in buffalo or san diego or elsewhere that feel that he is a wimp. roth is coming up. so in short. saban has earned my confidence in whoever he says will be our first pick.

anybody get the feeling that there are some afc playoff teams breathing a big sigh of relief that we got squeaked out of the playoffs?

Hell, I'll throw out some names besides Cutler: Eslinger-C (Minn) Winston-T (The U) Jackson-WR (UF) Bing-S (USC) Greenway-LB (Iowa)

These are just names, hell, the draft ain't until April. Things are sure to change. Either way, I would like to get a QB for the future, a starter on the o-line, a WR, and definitely some depth on defense... 2007 AFC Champs

I'm a Canes fan and I've seen a lot of Winston and have not been impressed. He's not a dominant LT. He will be a solid starter in the pros but I don't think he will be pro bowler. Top 20 pick would be too high for him IMO.

Winston has rounded back to playing form after his knee injury. Some team's going to get him in the mid to late 1st round and be very happy.

I'm with you...anyone that Saban picks is fine with me too.He knows what he's doing. We might not get a QB till the 3rd or 4th round and if that's the case then so be it.Nick will get us a QB that we can win with, either with free agency, trade or the draft.

That would be awesome. We REALLY need a young QB for Frerotte or whoever we bring in to groom Cutler. Cutler could be a good QB in the NFL, but if he doesn't have the right teaching, then that could ruin his chances. Overall though, I think that Saban and Frerotte can teach him well and he could be ready to start his 2nd year.

 I'm sorry...... but that brought back memories of the sack on JP Losman.

Regarding the mock draft I have one question.

Why is it OK for the Dolphins to pick Cutler with the 15th pick but not OK for the Bucaneers to pick Cutler with their 24th pick should he drop that far.

They)Bucs) might also be in the market for a young quarterback and a name to keep an eye on is Jay Cutler, although this might be a little early for him right now

Chris Sims is the guy at TB. That's why.

Thats not what he is saying. He is saying that the Bucs are interested in drafting a QB but that Cutler was a reach at the 24th spot.

Obviously this is an error. That comment was made before Cutler started to rise in Scouts estimation.

There will be so many changes between now and then. Philip Rivers was a low 1st rounder at this point two years ago. Then he became a top 5 pick after the workouts.

There's also the Vince Young factor. Personally, I hope he comes out b/c it just makes the draft that much stronger. Young will likely go in the top 5, imo. But, it's too early to put any stock in any predictions.

I don't think Saban will make a kneejerk pick on a QB who doesn't belong in that spot. Everyone wanted a QB at some point last year and he didn't bother with it. Not saying that he won't draft a QB. But, if he feels a guy is lower 1st or 2nd round talent, he's not going to spend the #15 pick (or whatever it is) on the guy.

Until the combine and individual workouts, All-star games, etc it's pretty stupid to worry where these guys will slot...remember Brown last year, remember Rodgers last year ??? Lets just see how they shake out before we get too worried about whether this or that guy will be available...besides, if Mueller picks up a Schaub, Rivers, Brees, or someone of that ilk, that would change everything in the draft...same goes for the Jests, Cards, etc that may be looking for a QB...

I never said I was worry about it...just passed it along cos a lot of people here like to talk about the draft and the players coming out.Of course things will change before the draft and nobody knows who we'll take....is all for fun at this point and just general talk.... :shakeno:
