NFL determines that the Dolphins did not strictly follow the concussion protocol with Matt Moore's hit.

Wasnt the examination done by a local Pittsburgh chosen doctor?

The league and the union announced that the protocol “was not strictly followed” after Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore took a hit to the chin and mouth during a wild-card game against the Steelers. The team doctor and the unaffiliated neuro-trauma consultant did not recognize that Moore had a documented symptom (bleeding from the mouth) that required further evaluation in the locker room.

“There is no indication that competitive issues had an impact on the care that Mr. Moore received, nor did Mr. Moore demonstrate any concussion symptoms either during or at any time following the game,” the statement explained.

The Dolphins have been asked to engage their staff in a full review of the protocol, and to conduct additional education, if necessary. The Dolphins also were warned that “any future deviation” from the concussion protocol could result in “enhanced discipline, including monetary fines assessed against the Club.”

The announcement doesn’t specify the sanction, if any, applicable to the unaffiliated neuro-trauma consultant, who along with the Miami team doctor failed to notice that Moore was bleeding from the mouth and, thus, required an evaluation in the locker room.

Regardless, it seems like a fairly light punishment for a bright-line violation of a policy that the league views as having critical importance to player health and safety.

Well the good news is there won't be any loss of draft picks like some were saying when the report came out that we were being investigated.

Apparently Moore had blood coming from his mouth when they were checking him for a concussion and the NFL and NFLPA said that's one of the signs of a concussion.

No draft pick loss as you state is the most important.. not even the team fine.. I wonder if the organizations response was well the independent doctor missed this also to try and mitigate any fine for this first violation.

Have to think the next player will be "extra evaluated".

Yeah because you just got hit in the mouth lol.

I still do not understand how there can be an independent doctor doing the evaluation for the NFL and the NFL saying the protocol wasn't followed. I guess it is like Goodell saying "well the Refs didn't follow the rules but we make the rules so whatever it's the teams fault".

Seems like some bogus **** to me. Steelers play dirty as hell. Moore cleared by an independent dr.., how is this our fault?

Moore is one tough SOB for going back out there and getting points on that drive. I just knew he was out cold when it happened live. Don't give a **** what the league or the players association have to say. It was a dirty hit that deserved an ejection, period.

I wonder if the NFL''s investigation on bud Dupree head hunting was found to be intentional since that wasn't the first time he hit Moore in the head in that game. Oh wait, there wasn't one.

It's so bad, the damn announcers didn't even mention it when they watched the replay 6 damn times.

An outrage. The Executive Vice President of Football Operations should be fired by the end of the day.

He was bleeding from the mouth because he got hit in the freaking mouth with a helmet. The NFL is a joke. Where is the common sense here. His mental aptitude was tested on the sideline and the doctors said he was fine. The blood was obviously not caused from a concussion. Not every hard hit causes a concussion. The NFL is going to put themselves out of business with the way they are dealing with issues these days. Fans like me are starting to get fed up with the league and their ratings are starting to reflect that.

you'll be back rick...kinda like you were with tannehill you will be back...the leagues got us all by the short hairs

Did they even mention the independent dr? He looked at him and cleared him. How can you in retrospect say he had a concussion if he didn't?
