NFL Films Steve Sabol passed away

:(

RIP Steve Sabol. What he and his family did for football cant be overstated.

What a great man. What sad news.

I hope this thread stays up on the main page here for a while. I always thought of him as an honorary member of the Dolphins family, and I think the fans of most teams feel the same way. I shudder to think what things would be like if he had not come along.

I always wanted to write to him to thank him but never did, thinking it would jinx his recovery by being a tacit admission that the end was near.

Thank you, Steve.

RIP Sabol, he's the reason why I'm a huge football fan.

Very sad...I'm in the business and had always hoped to work with (or for) Steve someday.

...wasn't Shula upset with Steve for the having the "computer" tournament of the greatest teams of all time and having one of the Steelers teams beat the '72 Dolphins?

RIP

He influenced the whole way we look at the game we love. He created this entire aesthetic through the booming instrumentals, gravitas filled narration over these gritty well shot highlights. It made the game these epic dramas. He's been an incredible champion for the NFL and thankfully his legacy lives on.

Miss th edays of their videos, the crap now has a million ex players and coaches all trying to be the smartest, or comedians. It's pure garbage.

Such shocking news. This man was a creative genius in the truest sense. Take such a simple thing as football and turn it into poetry in motion. May you forever R.I.P.

what abba Ed created and son Steve perfected was evolutionary… never to be duplicated. personally, it accentuated dreams of crafting my career choice, by making production assistant John Facenda, "the voice" of the world's greatest game. Thank you Ed. Thank you Steve.

RIP

Aww man! That is awful. He and his dad did fantastic work with NFL Films and made so many new fans for the league with their work. Rest in peace, Mr. Sabol.

A great man and a true innovator. He will be missed.
