During the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/183">NFL Combine, Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel said free agent LB Kenard Lang (Browns) was released by the team as a cap casualty after not making a smooth transition from defensive end to outside linebacker. Lang made a great effort, but the team felt it was in their best interest to release him

Roger Phillips, of InsideBayArea.com, reports the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/32/nfl">San Francisco 49ers could release CB Ahmed Plummer. He has played in only nine of 32 games since being signed to a five-year, $25-million contract two years ago by then-general manager Terry Donahue. He is scheduled to earn $5.5 million in salary in 2006. The 49ers would realize a savings of about $1 million against the NFL's salary cap by releasing Plummer.

Harvey Fialkov, of the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/167">Sun-Sentinel, reports despite unconfirmed reports that he tested positive on another drug test, Miami Dolphins RB Ricky Williams has told his agent that it couldn't be accurate. "First of all, he vehemently denies he used drugs," agent Leigh Steinberg said during a radio interview on ESPN-1400 (WFLL-AM) Wednesday, Feb. 22. "He's worked too hard to get back in a position where he was at one with his teammates." Steinberg wouldn't go into specifics about his reported appeal of the failed test, but he was confident that Williams would be cleared. If not, Williams, a three-time offender of the league's substance-abuse policy, faces a minimum one-year suspension.

Regarding Walker, who has had an up-and-down tenure in Tampa Bay, Condon said, "He's played through the five years of his contract. I think he'd like to take a look at free agency and see what's out there." Walker had arguably his best season as a Buccaneer despite some uneven performances.
