I was reading the newest ESPN Mag and someone wrote a letter to the editor about Ricky Williams... The letter said what we've heard too many times, he doesn't love football and loves pot.

Ricky Williams was suspened for using a illigal drug, not a performance enhancement drug. Yet, football players are late for training camp for court trials or being arrested. The more I've thought about it, the more I've became concern about the NFL rules. Why do they not punish players for beating their wives or DUIs, yet punish those who use illigal drugs. Something is wrong with this.

They do punish for beating your wife

The same way the punish for drugs, its a step by step things, incidents one and two you get a certain slap on the wrist punishment, offense #3 you get a suspension.

ricky didn't get in trouble the first time he was caught, but he was the 3rd time. i imagine if a player gets arrested 3 times for something they'll be punished severely.

Yes I remember towards the end of this season John Clayton on inside the huddle said Mcmichael could face up to a year suspension for another incident

The day they can have a player pee in a cup and see that he is driving drunk, beating his wife or doing other illegal crap they will punish them more for it.

Ricky seems to always be the favorite whipping boy of the media. I hope Ricky has a solid year in Toronto and then comes back strong next year...I haven't given up on him. I also still have not heard what substance he was suspended for. :rolleyes2
