It's not that we suck, the entire NFL is pretty bad these days.

1. The Falcons should have put 35 points and 500 yards up against us but they self-destructed too. No way we should have been in it.

2. Our play-calling blew, our penalties still kill us, our defense pulls up lame at crucial times. We're WAY too inconsistent.

3. Watching OTHER nfl games, you can see the VERY same thing. Turnovers, penalties, stupid stuff happening almost all the time. Bad pass here and there.

What happened to GOOD football. I'm very serious when I say that I'd rather watch GOOD football than WANNY ball that's pretty much "let's make less mistakes out there than the other team".

In today's NFL, it's actually SMART to play close-to-the-cuff and limit mistakes and NOT take chances because there's a LOT of stupidity going on out there by most teams.

It didn't used to be like this.

The NFL just seems watered down and it's getting increasingly harder to watch ballgames these days.

Is it the coaching? Are the player IQ's lower these days? What's going on?

I don't know why people keep stating this. It is so not true!!

How the hell can the Falcons put 35 points on the board against of if they keep turning the football over and most importantly cannot stop our rushing attack??
Anytime a team can control the trenches, they have a really good chance of winning....take that to the bank!
 
The Falcons stopped themselves yesterday. Wasn't really much that the Dolphins did to stop Vick at all. He did just about anything he wanted out there. A 6-2 team that's GOOD would have put up over 30 points on this defense today.

Not that we're much better at shooting ourselves in the foot. I get the feeling we could have RUN all day on that defense. We're just stupid and that's why we're 3-5.

It just seems MANY nfl teams today play stupid a LOT, and it's increasingly harder to watch.

Sad fact is that WANNY ball may be the best formula for winning in the NFL today. You don't need to look GREAT out there but just play CONSERVATIVE and don't self-destruct. Makes for BORING football, but with the STUPIDITY out there, it's winning football.

Boring? You think watching Ronnie drag 2-3 defenders down the field is boring? How about seeing the defense huffing and puffing and knowing another run is coming but they cannot stop it.
I love watching Miami run the football!
I don't think stupidity has anything to do with its success or failure. It just works.
 
The Falcons are trash. At 6-2, they should have put our dumb arses away early in the game the way Vick was playing and the way we were self-destructing.

A real 6-2 team years ago would have layed that smackdown. Today, 6-2 isn't that much better than 3-5. You get a break or 2 and that's it.

Make < mistakes than the other team. Play not to lose.

That's just sad.
 
You're right about "boring". I did like seeing Ronnie run the ball and I wanted MUCH more of that AND Ricky. I guess when it's us doing it, it's not boring.

It's just a shame about our play-calling, our defensive breakdowns, and Gus' bad decisions. My point is that this is COMMONPLACE around the NFL and it's not just us.
 
The PATS have won superbowls precisely because they don't play DUMB. And that's why they're STILL winning....even though they're struggling a bit this year, it's RARE to see them making STUPID mistakes out there.

THAT'S why they win. It's not just talent alone but NOT making bone-head mistakes everywhere.

And it's not like the PATS play not-to-lose ball like WANNY ball. They just don't play like MOST teams in the NFL, and most teams are TRASH in the NFL today.

If they can not stop our rushing attack then why did we only have 24 carries COMBINED between the best running tandem in the AFC East.

Come on Gus had 105 yards passing. When was the last time you saw a nfl team go to the playoffs with a QB that averages150 yards or less a game. The guy SUCKS. I'm sooo tired of hearing that he gives us the best opportunity to win, That's BS and everyone knows it.
If your just going to play for Draft picks then at least be a man and tell us that's what yopu are doing.( Bookies will love hearing that) But don't insult our intelligence by telling us that GUS gives us the best chance to win!:fire:

You don't think NFL games are poorly played these days by players who make DUMBa$$ mistakes and coaches who make STUPID calls? I think the NFL is a slop-fest these days and teams that just play smart like the HATED patsies (and yes I hate them) keep winning.
 
Another point I think is valid is that EVEN if we had a GREAT qb, would that make our team great? Sure, we'd be 5-3 or 6-2 but how great a team would we be with all these bonehead calls, penalties, blown plays, etc.?

Used to be that 6-2 meant something and now it really doesn't. Look at the ENTIRE nfc division. Is there a good team in that conference?

Colts, Steelers, Broncos, Bengals, Chargers, and Pats are all better teams than Atlanta. What do they have in common? Do they play DUMB, stupid football? Well, anyone who saw the CHARGERS/EAGLES and STEELERS/JAX games would say YES, from time to time they give away ballgames out of stupidity.

But with a great QB, even if we were 6-2 we wouldn't be anywhere CLOSE to the Colts.

I don't know - maybe sports has been like this for awhile and I'm just getting old, but i don't remember RECKLESS, stupid, dumba$$ football from the 80's and 90's.

I'm just ranting off the top of my head, but it REALLY seems that WANNY ball is the way to go in today's NFL. Play VERY close to the vest and just WAIT for the OTHER team to self-destruct and that'll be good for at least 5 wins a season. The TALENT on your team should be good for another 3-6 wins.

Its called parody, and its by design. The NFL is by far the most successful league in sports in this country and its the level playing field the teams are on that has helped it reach that level, I love the game and find it as exciting as ever.

Its basketball and basesball that have lost me as a fan.
 
I think the NBA is also worse than the NFL and watching that sickens me more. Millions of 3 pointers and rim-shattering dunks, street ball, 1- on -1 crap, no team ball whatsoever, as if people forgot how to run simple basketball plays.

As an Astros fan, I can relate to crappy baseball too, when we're not bunting to advance the runner, making STUPID baserunning mistakes, not seeing guys like Manny Ramirez play hard at times, etc...

But it seems the NFL used to be above this, and I don't believe it's just PARODY. Heck, COLLEGE football doesn't seem to be this disorganized and reckless. At least in college football, you EXPECT some of the players to SUCK....but you don't see coaches demanding MORE of them than they can deliver.
 
I think we have to give WANNY some credit for knowing that winning football today is just WAITING for the other team to self-destruct. Yeah, WANNY was a dumba$$ too and I'm glad he's gone but he's right in this respect.
