I was watching NFL Matchup and Jaws' excellent film work on the Chiefs/Colts matchup. In that he showed a video of how the Dolphins attacked the Colts D on a running play with the "Wham" block and using the Colts upfield attack.
With Tivo I was able to watch it several times. Very interesting. All the Dolphins in the picture finished their blocks except one - Randy McMichael.
Mc - met his man, engaged him for about 1 second, then turned his head to the side to watch the play and just let his guy go. It was a very good run by Sammy Morris. Morris didn't get tackled by McMichael's player but the player got there a split second late. And, had Morris gotten away from the tackler (a safety), the guy McMichael was blocking would have easily caught Morris.
Granted it was a run to the left side of the line (3 gap when I played) but it's the kind of lack of discipline that keeps McMichael from becoming a player who matches his talent. And, it's not just that it's the last game. This is characteristic of the guy's career. Great play ... takes a play off.
