NFL may not be able to discipline Incognito

Wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong but after Martin's self-serving stonewalling of the NFLPA unlike Incog, I'd think they'd bend over backwards to assert his rights.

The NFLPA isn't going to intentionally put themselves in the crosshairs. They'll defend Martin as vigorously as they defend Incognito. They have a fiduciary and legal obligation to do so. Should they not, they'd potentially make themselves the target of a lawsuit.

He served enough time for the offense and in reality his next contract will be when he pays the price because his market value will be quite low because he is already a drunken idiot that has been kicked or suspended from 4 teams, now he has this crap.
Many teams will feel he is not worth the trouble esp with the drug references and his alleged sexual assault at the golf club.

Richie served his time for crying out loud.

For some reason this morning, im nose-diving the fence.

Ive been rough on Incognito and its been deserved but ive also posted they all deserve to be disciplined, not crucified. I believed the discipline was to not offer the guy a contract as FA will be a horrible punishment enough as it is especially contractual wise.

Now im thinking, re-sign the guy with a similar contract he's probably going to get somewhere else; cheap & balls deep in clauses.

We wouldnt look too bad if PR doesnt f@$k it up ( a miracle but one can hope):

"We will offer Incognito a contract with heavy conditions, one of which will be mandatory therapy involving anger management and other facets for his betterment. We will monitor him with extreme vigilance. We have come to this decision not because he was an essential part of our oline and a pro bowl player but because of the vast support he has garnered in our locker room and around the league. Just 4 years ago, he was a model player. He can be again. He has been heavily disciplined not just by a heavy suspension and loss of pay but by the thrashing he has taken by the media.

Incognito's actions are not and will never be condoned and we are working on guidelines for locker room behavior with intentions of setting a blue print, not just for the Miami Dolphins, but the entire league.

As our locker room has done, we too shall support Incognito. And if he decides to seek other options, we will support him as well by letting all other teams know that Incognito's work ethic is unsurpassed . He has won the compassion and admiration of a locker room. And we believe that with proper care, Incognito can once again become a model citizen and all around football player. We hope that he decides to get that care with the Miami Dolphins."

I know. Some of you will abhor that. Think of it this way, he needs help and care and if he's going to get it elsewhere, why not here? Plus, think of the message this send FA's and we need as much help as we can get in that regard. Players will love that the Miami Dolphins got player's backs. That will go a loooong way with other players.

And of corse and at the risk of losing points on character, we retain a good player at a very cheap price. Business, after all, is business.

Imo, The chances this happen: 0.01%.

BTW, Peter King was on the Le Batard show last week and believes 100% that Incognito will get a chance to play somewhere else as early as this upcoming FA because the league has consistently shown that talent trumps behavior in the NFL.

Incognito will sign with the Patriots.... with he NFL's blessing

Richie Incognito probably facing multi-game suspension

Now the disgraced Dolphins guard awaits a possible NFL-imposed suspension, one that could be issued by commissioner Roger Goodell for "conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the NFL."

That authority is granted to Goodell by Article 46 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

It’s anyone’s guess how long Incognito might be suspended, but it’s safe to say it’d be multiple games.

Incognito missed eight games last season for offenses against the Dolphins and tackle Jonathan Martin, conduct detrimental to the team.

A suspension for offenses against the best interest of the NFL could be considered a different charge and an umbrella that grants Goodell great latitude.

That is not my question.

I question whether they will defend Incognito (who cooperated with THEM, BTW) as diligently as they will defend martin.

They have to and they will, just as the MLBPA defended every guy who got caught taking performance enhancing drugs. If a union starts picking and choosing which players it will defend vigorously and diligently, it will implode from the atmosphere of mistrust it creates. Unions can't operate that way. You have to go to bat for everyone equally whether you agree with them or not.

Richie is an ass and doesn't deserve to be in the league.....Dude needs major psychological help. Now he wants to apologize? Just trying to be manipulative at this point and will say anything to get back into the leagues good graces. Hope he is banned from the league.
