NFL needs a draft lottery

I think we may hear more about this in coming months as teams will be accused of tanking for LUCK..., I like the draft lottery for this very reason - thoughts???

And why isn't a draft lottery in place already?

Anyone know?
 
Yeah let's give the NFL and Goodell the power to "randomly" choose the team players like Andrew Luck would be drafted by. (Hint, it would be big money market locations).
 
Wait does that mean its possible, although not probable but the superbowl winner or playoff teams could theoretically end up with the 1st pick in the draft?

No, in the NBA I'm pretty sure the lottery is just for the teams that don't make the Playoffs and it's weighted by a percentage so the team that usually gets the #1 is usually never any lower then the 5th worse team anyway.

Haha sorry if my post offended you but your simple question had a simple answer... its not a good idea. Look at the NBA, think it was coincidence Lebron ended up in Cleveland?

Going by record and not picking names out of a hat is the fairest and best way to determine draft position. Why would a 4-12 team deserve the number one pick over a 0-16 team?

Yes and teams that don't make the play offs can only move 3 or 4 spots so a tenth last team that wins no 1 pick moves to 6th - I don't jive with the conspirist theory on Goodell - Too much money at stake to goof around
 
Ever heard of a reputable world wide firm handling the draft process - this isn't rocket science and what is it with america and conspiricists??
 
Do you want the lottery system to be implemented or do you just think it may be implemented in the future? I understand the process that teams will not jump drastically which is why I used the example I used. Under the lottery system it COULD be possible for a 4-12 team to overtake an 0-16 team for the number one pick.

I for one hope the NFL never adopts the lottery system.

The lottery system is just a ****ty system it has nothing to do with conspiracy theories. For all technical purposes you could argue the lottery will be fair bc the NFL is a non profit organization... at least they have tax exempt status.

So lets say we legitimately finish 1-15, would you would be OK with the Colts purposely tanking and going 0-16 to grab Luck out from under our noses? I think its pretty naive to think this won't or couldn't happen. There is a reason the NHL and NBA implemented a draft lottery
