NFL Network: Dolphins should stick with Matt Moore as QB

How the f**k is that guy an analyst/ expert (whatever he is?). I can do a better job than him.

Sophomore slump? Go look at his 2009 highlight reels and 2011 highlight reels. Moore played pretty danged good. He's got a good long ball and was hitting Steve Smith all over the field, just like he was hitting Marshall last year. I think he is going to be better than Flynn ever will be.
I don't think he has the arm or the accuracy needed to be a starter.

mostly agree. The problem is that Manning, RG3, and Flynn will all cost a crap load of money or picks and I just think the risk vs reward ratio is not worth it. Winning superbowls means not over paying people so that there is more money to go around. Look at the redskins. They get hyped up every year with big signings only to suck because they don't have the cap to spread the money around. If you give Marino 30 million dollars a year it doesn't matter how good he is because he won't have enough good players around him to win. Like most things in life it's all about balance and over paying on risky candidates throws the balance off.

I dont think we can force the issue on the quarterback position. We cannot give up our draft for one player, or overpay for an old washed up player. Moore is not a franchise qb but he was 7-3 (or 6-3) last year with the right side of the offensive line a sieve, and a coaching staff on a respirator. I think he has earned another shot. Draft a qb this year - Weeden/Tannehill/dude from Boise, but dont mortgage the future. I think our first pick, barring a trade up or down, should focus on either a stud pass rusher or a stud guard/tackle - Upshaw/Coples or DeCastro/Reiff - I lean o-line...

Manning has already said he will agree to an incentive based contract so we know if we pay money we will be getting a franchise QB for 2-3 years.

And the Redskins are a bad analysis, QB is a completely different thing than signing an old Deion Sanders or a lazy DT to big money. QB changes everything about your team and would be worth every penny if he paid off. And if we put a prime Marino on this team he would have multiple rings guaranteed, we have a top 10 defense and A running back that would relieve the pressure for him, and his mobility would be enough to get passed our OL especially since his quick release and great vision would lessen the amount of sacks on him.

****in lol'd when he said "Brandon Marshall BECAME that #1 receiver".

i agree 100% ..........DADDY :chuckle: LMAO

I think that COLUMBO/CAREY cost MIAMI at least 5 games that should've been "W"s: 4 w/MOORE at QB (DALLAS, NY GIANTS, DENVER and PATRIOTS II) and 1 w/HENNE (CLEVELAND). Given that HOUSTON and SD were 6 point losses, that "W" count might even be higher. I feel that at the least, MOORE earned a 10-2 record, if it weren't for COLUMBO/CAREY. That's w/ no preseason worth mentioning, "back-up QB's reps" until HENNE went down, and a dufus/assistant dufus in SPARANO/ROSS, who gave us the COLUMBO/CAREY fiasco when we should have gotten any one of 5 or 6 VERY solid F/A Gs (I still remember 4: BOTH of ATLANTA's starting Gs, GALLERY, and COLLEDGE), and left CAREY, a serviceable veteran RT who was-and-is about 100x better than COLUMBO, at RT where he belongs. MIAMI's OL would have been LONG, whichever F/A, POUNCEY, INCOGNITO (at RG where he really belongs), and CAREY, instead of the p-o-s we ended up with!!!

I'll bet that FLYNN never had to cope w/s*"t like THAT!!! I/m/o, RIGHT AFTER stupid ROSS fired our "OL Guru" SPARANO, he should have fired HIMSELF.

Despite all of the pure crapola that MOORE had to deal with, plus the ALBATROSS named COLUMBO/CAREY hanging around his neck, and plus the 2nd Albatross named SPARANO/ROSS hanging around his neck, and the lingering stench of "PARCELLSBALL", MOORE STILL put MIAMI in a position that it could've-and-should've gone 10-2 w/him at QB (and at least 1-3 w/HENNE at QB). Playoffs? YES!!!

MOORE showed accuracy, especially deep and in the mid-range (maybe that's why MIAMI was so highly ranked in pass completions over 20 Yards last season), "touch" passes (e.g., those "circle" routes to R BUSH), mobility, smart play, and leadership. I/m/o., he singlehandedly resurrected FASANO's pass-catching career, and did some good work w/CLAY as well: to such an extent that i/m/o, it showed that MIAMI doesn't NEED at TE...just a QB and OC who know how to use a TE!

Yet, MIAMI's going crazy trying to "buy" a Franchise QB. Well, i/m/o, MIAMI already HAS one, and his name is MOORE. But MIAMI has MOORE under contract only thru 2012. So if MIAMI isn't careful, MOORE will be a F/A after this season, and some SMARTER NFL Franchise will say "Thank you very much, MIAMI", and take him right from under our noses. And we, the "DOLFAN NATION" will get reemed up our a**es...AGAIN.

You just made my point for me. If we had Marino in his prime then we wouldn't have a top 10 or a stud runner. That's why he never had either of those. We paid Marino so much money that we couldn't afford those things. Had Marino taken a pay cut like some QB's have done then he would have won at least 1 superbowl. Sad truth

We have enough money to get Manning or Flynn right now, so there's not "we're never going to have this or that player." If we have a franchise QB with this team right now we are a playoff team and super bowl contenders.

If there was a less risky option then I would say go for it. Rg3 will cost us several picks and a lot of money. Flynn is a nightmare waiting to happen. Dude will get franchise QB money after only playing 2 games. Manning is a decent option assuming that his contract is entirely based on what he does. Still rather stick with Moore. He is young and playing well despite our crap line, out of shape players, and awful coaching

If Philbin thinks Flynn is a franchise QB than I'm going to trust the guy who worked with him his whole career. If Philbin thinks he's right for our system then we need to go after him.

If we keep Moore as our back up behind Manning then if Manning's injury starts acting up we have a great back up and Manning won't be paid a ton of money if he doesn't finish the season.

Say what ya want, but Matt Moore makes me comfortable to go after Manning. I dont care about the stats or his record, none of that. I seen him play and with him we looked pretty strong on offense. He is still young and could still get better. If he could just stop fumbling snaps would make him much better. Partial of that probelm could be due to a rookie center. Most are scared to watch Moore get a second chance due to his Carolina days. What I heard is that his first game that year he got a concussion and was put back in too early and it was all bad from there. Not saying we shouldnt do everything possible to improve but I have a hard time throwing Matt Moore out of the picture. He made some plays that showed he gots a lil bit of the "it" factor. Lets see how he is developed from a coach who is more about the passing game. His last two coaches were Tony Sparano and John Fox.

I agree 100% Matt showed that he can win games.. If we had to roll with Matt I wouldn't have problem with that.. He came in and did a nice job for someone who didn't have a trainer camp.. learned a new system.. didn't work with the 1's.. Think the boy did very well through all of that.. Now that being said.. Yes I want a franchise Qb and if Flynn, RG3 could give us that then I say go get them.. But I think if Matt had a full offseason and was given a chance he could blossum into something special.. Maybe a Romo type..

The difference in the SB was plays Manning did make versus plays Brady did not, this time. We need a QB that can make plays happen consistently during the playoffs. That QB is not Matt Moore.

i have no idea why everyone already trusts Philbin despite that fact that he has never been a head coach before. This guy could be far worse than Sparano. Not predicting that just saying he is unproven and may or may not be a good head coach

This is my preferred QBs in the offseason:

1.Trade up for RGIII/Andrew Luck(whichever Colts don't choose)

2.Manning

3.Flynn/Moore(I don't think Flynn is a franchise QB, but if Philbin thinks he can do something with him I won't be against it.)

4.Draft Tannehill

If we can afford to draft high, I like the idea of option 1. It is time.
