NFL Network: Dolphins should stick with Matt Moore as QB

i have no idea why everyone already trusts Philbin despite that fact that he has never been a head coach before. This guy could be far worse than Sparano. Not predicting that just saying he is unproven and may or may not be a good head coach

He has coached Flynn his whole career and was the OC for Aaron Rodgers, so he doesn't exactly have the worst track record. Philbin and Clements have helped Rodgers turn into a franchise QB and have made Flynn look good. If Philbin thinks Flynn can be a franchise QB I'm going to trust him more than a bunch of people on FinHeaven not wanting him just because they haven't seen enough of him.

If we can afford to draft high, I like the idea of option 1. It is time.

The only thing that scares me about trading up for either of them is if we decide we want to then we will have missed our chance on Manning. So if another team like the Browns or Redskins beat us out on trading up for RGIII or Luck then we're SOL.

I'm cool with Matt Moore having a spot on the team...but he should be a backup. We need a franchise QB and not more average QB's who can't lead us to the playoffs.

I all for keeping moore and possibly giving him a chance but to act like its a given that he will perform the same as he did last year and not the previous year is a recipe for disaster.

I agree 100% Matt showed that he can win games.. If we had to roll with Matt I wouldn't have problem with that.. He came in and did a nice job for someone who didn't have a trainer camp.. learned a new system.. didn't work with the 1's.. Think the boy did very well through all of that.. Now that being said.. Yes I want a franchise Qb and if Flynn, RG3 could give us that then I say go get them.. But I think if Matt had a full offseason and was given a chance he could blossum into something special.. Maybe a Romo type..

Matt Proved he could go 6-6, he also wasnt very good the previous year which is why he was a scrap pickup in miami. He played well but he definately still has alot to mprove

Say what ya want, but Matt Moore makes me comfortable to go after Manning. I dont care about the stats or his record, none of that. I seen him play and with him we looked pretty strong on offense. He is still young and could still get better. If he could just stop fumbling snaps would make him much better. Partial of that probelm could be due to a rookie center. Most are scared to watch Moore get a second chance due to his Carolina days. What I heard is that his first game that year he got a concussion and was put back in too early and it was all bad from there. Not saying we shouldnt do everything possible to improve but I have a hard time throwing Matt Moore out of the picture. He made some plays that showed he gots a lil bit of the "it" factor. Lets see how he is developed from a coach who is more about the passing game. His last two coaches were Tony Sparano and John Fox.

He averaged less than 200 yards passing and just barely over a TD a game. What is strong about that?

I honestly don't get these Moore guys who say he played well. I guess they are going only by QB rating maybe? The guy averaged a pathetic 191 yards passing a game, that is absolutely horrible. He averaged just over 1 TD a game, also horrible and 21 points a game, and then you throw in the fumbles 3 of which cost us games. You talk about his QBR, but if you factor in the lost fumbles (which are not a part of QBR) and treat them like ints (because it is the same thing, a turnover) his QBR would be near the bottom of the league. He is not an NFL starter and it it pretty damn obvious.

Well Brian Baldinger has spoken. I am sure that the organisation were waiting with baited breath for his input :rolleyes2:

I agree. Next season def coordinators will have plenty of tape on Moore and can game plan better against his strengths and weaknesses (and there are plenty).
He doesn't have a strong arm and he is not partcularly accurate. He cannot fit the ball into tight windows.

Your post is incredibly illogical. "Stats" are worthless w/o context. If MOORE puts MIAMI in position to score, he has done well. Despite all the things that he had to deal with and overcome, especially COLUMBO and the lingering stench of "PARCELLSBALL", he did that often enough to win 6 games out of 12. And the cold, hard fact is that w/ANYONE other than COLUMBO at RT, MIAMI would have had 4 more "W"s under MOORE's QBing/leadership--and those teams were DALLAS (solid), DENVER (playoffs), N.E. (SB), and the GIANTS (SB Champs). So, shove your "stats". Look at what ACTUALLY happened, and place any "blame" where it belongs.

He's QUITE ACCURATE, actually. Especially the mid-range and deep routes. Maybe that's why MIAMI was rated as one of the top teams in pass completions over 20 Yards (When was the last time THAT happened?).

QBs don't formulate a gameplan, or call the plays. The OC and HC do that. SPARANO was born and raised (as a Coach) in a PARCELLSBALL Universe. DABOLL was an improvement, but that's it. NOW? Now, we might see something...MAYBE. We've already seen that MOORE can throw intermediate routes and deep routes w/accuracy: that showcased MARSHALL, HARTLINE, and especially FASANO in the 20 yars range.

We'll see...maybe. Or maybe not.

people want elite qbs, and then they say they want flynn. i never thought the day would come where id here the name matt flynn and elite in the same sentence.

our best solution this offseason is to go for peyton manning because he gives us the best chance to win, even if at 85 percent he is drastically better than moore, flynn, and whoever.

sign manning, keep moore as back up, and draft tannehill.

nobodys calling matt flynn elite so get off that soap box...most are just sayin its a chance worth taking...especially with philbin in house...matt moore is DEFINITELY not the guy...

I think that COLUMBO/CAREY cost MIAMI at least 5 games that should've been "W"s: 4 w/MOORE at QB (DALLAS, NY GIANTS, DENVER and PATRIOTS II) and 1 w/HENNE (CLEVELAND). Given that HOUSTON and SD were 6 point losses, that "W" count might even be higher. I feel that at the least, MOORE earned a 10-2 record, if it weren't for COLUMBO/CAREY. That's w/ no preseason worth mentioning, "back-up QB's reps" until HENNE went down, and a dufus/assistant dufus in SPARANO/ROSS, who gave us the COLUMBO/CAREY fiasco when we should have gotten any one of 5 or 6 VERY solid F/A Gs (I still remember 4: BOTH of ATLANTA's starting Gs, GALLERY, and COLLEDGE), and left CAREY, a serviceable veteran RT who was-and-is about 100x better than COLUMBO, at RT where he belongs. MIAMI's OL would have been LONG, whichever F/A, POUNCEY, INCOGNITO (at RG where he really belongs), and CAREY, instead of the p-o-s we ended up with!!!

I'll bet that FLYNN never had to cope w/s*"t like THAT!!! I/m/o, RIGHT AFTER stupid ROSS fired our "OL Guru" SPARANO, he should have fired HIMSELF.

Despite all of the pure crapola that MOORE had to deal with, plus the ALBATROSS named COLUMBO/CAREY hanging around his neck, and plus the 2nd Albatross named SPARANO/ROSS hanging around his neck, and the lingering stench of "PARCELLSBALL", MOORE STILL put MIAMI in a position that it could've-and-should've gone 10-2 w/him at QB (and at least 1-3 w/HENNE at QB). Playoffs? YES!!!

MOORE showed accuracy, especially deep and in the mid-range (maybe that's why MIAMI was so highly ranked in pass completions over 20 Yards last season), "touch" passes (e.g., those "circle" routes to R BUSH), mobility, smart play, and leadership. I/m/o., he singlehandedly resurrected FASANO's pass-catching career, and did some good work w/CLAY as well: to such an extent that i/m/o, it showed that MIAMI doesn't NEED at TE...just a QB and OC who know how to use a TE!

Yet, MIAMI's going crazy trying to "buy" a Franchise QB. Well, i/m/o, MIAMI already HAS one, and his name is MOORE. But MIAMI has MOORE under contract only thru 2012. So if MIAMI isn't careful, MOORE will be a F/A after this season, and some SMARTER NFL Franchise will say "Thank you very much, MIAMI", and take him right from under our noses. And we, the "DOLFAN NATION" will get reemed up our a**es...AGAIN.

you lose credibility when you say things like matt moore is a franchise qb...not even jeff ireland who sees the guy every day in camp and practice and in the training facility and brought the guy in in free agency last year believes that

I don't agree. If you saw what happened last season, and used your brain, you might reach a different conclusion. I/m/o, MOORE looks like he can be a Franchise QB. IF NOT HERE, then somewhere else. Real "football people" will recognize what they see. Bellyachers and homeys on some Website, looking for a scapegoat, might say otherwise, but so what?

I don't think Moore gets enough credit. Period. Still doesn't mean I wouldn't want to give him stiff competition.
