Not an excuse thread, because we were awful, but I couldn't help noticing the astonishing amount of holding by (particularly the Pats) OL which went uncalled.

It seems that the Pats have realised that an OL can grab a handful of jersey every play as long as the hand does not get too far away from the body. To be fair to Wake, virtually all the techniques used to stop him last night would have drawn a flag even a few years ago. You are not actually allowed to grab a defenders shoulder pad or put your arm around his neck.

As usual, the Pats are better coached and have taken advantage of the new situation. That is why their makeshift OL looked all-Pro and ours didn't. But in my mind it is getting beyond a joke what is allowed at the moment, and there is no question that teams with 'valuable' QBs seem to get away with more than most.

NFL passing numbers are going through the roof already this year and frankly I find it a little boring to see these completely one-sided contests. Good as Brady is, the Pats offence is far from the best and most innovative I have seen (in fact, a long way away). The sort of stats that he put up last year and last night are just as much due to the fact that the NFL just don't seem to want any of the QBs to be hit if they can at all help it.

Go back and watch tape of Marino setting records in '84 and it is a very different game. A large number of his best throws are made under very heavy pressure.

This has been a problem forever, hell watch any given play of any game and u will see alot of what would appear to be holding. Its just the way the game is played

There was alot of holding it just hurt because it was a rookie doing it to wake

i was screaming this all game.. unless you grab a defender you arent going to get called.. we need to take advantage of this.. other than that, that new england right tackle looks nasty. I cant believe they are that nasty!

Yeah I was seeing it all night. One blatant hold was on a play where Brady scrambled out of the pocket on Wake's side, Wake turned around and flailed his arms because he was obviously being held and still, no call. That's usually a call 9/10 times. I mean, he was facing the sideline and couldn't run because Solder was holding him from behind. Very disappointing...

Welcome to NFL football. In case you didn't know, holding happens on every play. This isn't just when Cam Wake can't get away from a rookie; it is in every game, all game, every week, all season.

If it's the play I am thinking of, it did get called for holding.

There are always excuses. Wake just got dominated. Plain and simple. Every week it is holding. But apparently holding is a phenomenon that only happens to the Dolphins.

Ask Ritchie Icognito about holding penalty's. Robert Kraft's team will get away with more than most...... And if they are holding WTF shouldn't we get away with it.

Our guys need to make sure to be vocal with the refs, so they are watching for the holding on the ensuing plays. I noticed once Solder got called on it once, it spooked him, and Wake looked better after that. The NFL has gone too far with protecting the QB's, holding needs to get called much more often, because it happens constantly.
