'09 Season Highest Rank : 17 (week 1, 10)

Dolphins Rank: 17 (+3)

Comment: The Dolphins are finding that the tougher schedule after an 11-win season is burdensome. (Clayton)

CBS Sports Line

Dolphins Rank: 20 (-2)

Comment: The good news is that Chad Henne is improving. That bodes well for next season, even if the playoffs this season look unlikely.

Dolphins Rank: 16 (+1)

Comment: What a weird tenure it has been for Joey Porter in Miami. He was a major disappointment in his first season as a Dolphin in 2007, registering just 5.5 sacks after earning a big free-agent contract. Then last season, he came back in a huge way, leading the AFC with 17.5 sacks and helping spark Miami's run to the playoffs. This year? He's back to low-impact Joey, with just 2.5 sacks, 10 solo tackles and one forced fumble so far. Shut out on the stat sheet Sunday at New England, Porter, you'd think, would stay equally quiet in the media for a while. We'll see.

Dolphins Rank: 13 (+1)

Comment: FIRST-HALF BLESSING: More than any other team, the Dolphins are still gifted in the ways of the wildcat, which helped Miami rebound from an 0-3 start with four straight 30-point performances until losing in New England last week.
FIRST-HALF CURSE: What did Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano do to tick off the league's schedule-makers? Seven of Miami's eight opponents thus far own a record of .500 or better, including both remaining unbeatens Indy and New Orleans.
THIS WEEK: vs. Buccaneers (1-7)

Dolphins
Rank: 20 (-)

Comment:The Fins put up a battle against the Pats but came up short in the end. A game against Tampa this week could get Miami back in the win column.

Dolphins Rank: 20 (-3)

Comment: Last week: 27-17 loss at New England. The Dolphins played at New England, ran for 133 yards, won the time of possession battle and the turnover battle … and lost by 10.

Dolphins Rank: 16 (+2)

Comment: It’s apparent this season that the Dolphins don’t have enough talent to beat top competition, but that hasn’t stopped Tony Sparano’s squad from battling week in and week out.

Dolphins Rank: 13 (+6)

Comment: Faced tough challenge at Foxboro but will not be caught looking against in-state rival this week coming off an upset win as a double-digit dog.

What is it with these idiots saying our 11 win season gave us a tough schedule? Or that the schedule makers were harsh to us?

ONLY 2 GAMES ARE DECIDED BY LAST YEAR'S FINISH!!! Steelers, Chargers, that's it!! Indy and New orleans would be on our schedule even if we finished 1-15 last year. How do these guys get paid to write such horse hooey?

Dolphins are ranked 17th by ESPN, not 27th as you have posted.

I guess you are refering to this quote?

I dont think he is implying that last years record had anything to do with this years.

He is simply saying that it seems like the league has something agaist us judging by our schedule. I thought it was funny.

Thanks again SirDrums. I'd say 17th is about right. We're 3-5, with one of the hardest schedules in the NFL through the 1st half, and fought in each game almost beating the 2 unbeatens. Now we have the soft part of our schedule, and it honestly wouldn't surprise me if we went on a huge run like last year looking at the schedule ahead.

I think we finish 10-6 or 9-7 at the worst...

a lot of these power rankings are better than I thought.. many people have miami in the top 17, where they should be.

Brutal, brutal, BRUTAL schedule thus far, playing pretty much ALL playoff teams besides the bills...

looks like these people actually do their research, at least a little, and are actually giving a 3-5 team the credit it deserves.

I don't know about you guys but I am glad to see us starting to rank in the teens. The first several seasons I did this we couldn't seem to get out of the bottom five most times.

They aren't 3-5 becuase of the schedule, they are 3-5 becuase they blow big games. I can't complain about the power ranking now 3-5 sucks. Of course I think they can go 9-7, 10-6, I wouldn't put it past them to run the table. The schedule softens but if they could have stopped a few big plays they could be 6-2 with the worst of the schedule behing them and I could complain about the power rankings.
