What gives with dropping the Fish four spots after a win? Harsh, I'll admit. But Miami really had to fight like heck just to beat the one-win Bucs at home, and I really think they lose right now against Green Bay, Jacksonville, Carolina and Tennessee, the four teams that jumped them in this week's rankings. But I will admit my admiration for veteran Dolphins running back Ricky Williams grows by the week. The way the middle of their careers unfolded, did anybody out there foresee Ricky outlasting fellow 1999 first-round running back Edgerrin James? Not I.

The Dolphins sure like giving their star-studded new part-owners a show at home games, with three of Miami's five home games coming down to the last drive (plus a wild loss to the Saints in Week 7). Can the Dolphins take their show on the road? They'll have to with away games in four of the next five weeks.
THIS WEEK: at Panthers (4-5), Thurs.

After five consecutive weeks at No. 20, the Dolphins finally move up with a win in week 10. It took a last second field goal to get the win against the suddenly competitive Buccaneers. The biggest story from this game is the injury to RB Ronnie Brown. It would appear the Dolphins won’t have a shot at the playoffs, but any chance they do have rests on the shoulders of Brown, who ran for 80 yards and a score before the injury.

Last week: 25-23 win vs. Tampa. The Dolphins’ offense is as efficient as their defense is inefficient. Miami is fourth in Scoreability, 28th in Bendability. Oh, and they’re 0-5 vs. winning teams, 4-0 vs. losing teams. So there ya go.

The game with the Bucs may have been closer than it needed to be, but Chad Henne leading a game-winning drive had to be a confidence boost to South Florida. With three roadies in the next four games and an ailing Ronnie Brown, that boost will have to have some staying power for the Fins to stay in the playoff conversation.

Dan Carpenter is the hero in Miami this week. Just when you think Miami is going to go all 2007 on you again, they pull one out against the Buccaneers and keep their small playoff hopes alive.
