NFL Preseason Power Rankings

The guy says stuff like we're improving, yet we stay the same in his poll? come on. Thats all I hear from everyone. The dolphins are doing so much to change, have done so much, and will continue to be better. But theyre still going to suck. Man, im tired of all of these sports announcers and analysts who will change their tune the instant we start doing well.

u better not be a dolphins fan

At least we didn't drop in the poll... After that Steeler's game we could have dropped into the BCS poll...

-The Bills ran Willis 21 TIMES today in a preseason game and STILL LOST!

There goes the #5 ranking!!!!!!!!
Drop em' to 15

Honestly, I think this team starts out extremely slowly and then begins to build a little and show some small improvements late in the season.

With a new coach bringing a philosophy that is dramatically different than what we had before now it will take time.

The offense is moving from a smash mouth power offense, to one that uses the vertical pass more often, throws to the backs a lot more and does away with a traditional FB in favor of an H-back. This offense is so radically different it will take time for that to come together.

The personnel doesn't really fit the system yet, it will take time for Saban to identify all the strengths and weaknesses of his players in game situations to fit the system as best he can to what tehy can do each week.

A lot of players playing in this type of scheme for the first time in their careers will take time for them to adjust as well. Thinking instead of just playing is death to a football player and I think the players will be thinking about things too much early on.

The defense is moving from a bend and don't break, non-blitz type team to an aggressive schematic type defense. If we don't think that will take time we are crazy. Aggressive means big plays...both ways. It could be that this team allows more big plays in the wrong direction for a while before they come together and no when to go for the play and when not to.

Bottom line for me is that Saban will need some time to get his guys in place and find his own way in the NFL as a head coach. The players will make improvements throughout the season and the team could actually make a surprise here or there in the sense of a big upset, but overall the team has too many obstacles to face to be a supremely competitive football team.

A season of 4-12 is very easy to see from this team with the schedule they have and the depth issues to go along with all the issues above. I'm ok with this because I can see a plan taking shape and I now know my beloved Phins are in good hands and have a direction to turn this thing around and get the things in place to make the team a success with a foundation that turn into consistent winning like this proud franchise has been built upon.

Welcome Nick Saban and welcome back the bright future of the Great Miami Dolphins!
