I find this funny, because Marino could eat you up if you blitzed him and he was far from a "mobile QB" as defined.
I mean, Bill Walsh, said in a video I have 'if you dropped back to max coverage, he would eat you up underneath, if you blitzed him, he would beat your blitz...there was just no defending him'.

But anyways, the Giants (and us in 2006) showed that Brady is mental midgit against the blitz. Rothlisberger is a joke against a good blitz. Brees gets rattled to hell. Even Manning (both actually), gets very flustered by a good blitz.

Another showing of why DAN THE MAN is the best QB to ever play the game.

I'm sure we will all agree with you.

Obviously I like to point out how Dan was able to do this well, BUT actually the BIGGEST thing Im pointing out is how a good, well executed blitz scheme can render almost all QBs useless nowadays.

You are preaching to the choir,bro...I watched Dan at Pitt and every
game as a Dolphin.
It was a magical ride.

Im jealous of the guys who got to watch Dan marino play. Im 16 years old and never got to watch him play in his prime. Hell. i never got to watch him play at all

Peyton Manning does it.

It takes a smart QB, one who can read the field quickly and make fast decisions. Having a quick release helps alot too.

Having an amazing Oline and smart receivers also plays a big part.

Alot of coaches have limited a QB's ability to audible at the line, something that JJ did to force Marino into retirement.

u really missed out . im born in 1983 and im 24 years old , ive been watching dan since 1990 when i was 7 and it it was amazing. it just seemed like dan couldnt lose a game for his team. if we had a good or even mediocor d we would have had a bunch of rings. im just jealous of the people who are older than me cause they got 2 watch dan when he was a young buck, i hear that he was the best young qb ever 2 live, and i missed it.

hell i remember back to 89 at the earliest and im jealous i missed the start of his career.

I remember when we drafted him. Not being that informed about Pitt players I asked a friend from Pittsburgh if he was any good. He replied hell yeahh! How did Miami get him?? As I understand it he had a bad senior season because of an injury or whatever. and the rest is history.....

It was rumored he was a cokehead so his stock dropped.

I'm 19, I feel the same way. I came into watching the dolphins about 2001-2002. I feel in love with watching Ricky run the ball. But it all went downhill from there. I mean the Saban days brought some hope, but now I feel pretty sure Parcells & Co. will find us a QB for the future and bring the dolphins back into the playoffs.

im actually afraid we will never find another qb like dan. the chances are pretty slim id imagine

Been watching the Dolphins religiously since '81, so I remember Dan's first start against Buffalo in 1983.....we lost 38-35 in that game but I was SOOOO stoked after the game telling EVERYONE the next day we found our QB of the next 10-15 years. Kuechenberg was quoted in that game saying he'd never seen a QB get rid of the ball so fast. Drop back, ZIP! Awesome stuff back then. Duper had his breakout season with Dan during that rookie year of his......I was so pissed off when we lost to Seattle (27-20) in the playoffs due to Fulton Walker's 2 KO fumbles (in a row) near the end of the game. I felt if Dan had the ball, we could've won that game and played the Raiders next (who beat Washington in the SB). I'd never been so pissed off after a game. Even after the SB loss the following year to SF, I thought Dan would take us there 5-6 more times at least. Ahhhhh.....good times in those days. Dan was UNSTOPPABLE. That rookie year of his, I always thought THAT was the best Miami team he had been on - and not the 1984 team. The 1983 team had a better running game and killer B defense.
