What the hell. This Monday night game is boring. Packers D is dominating. So why not bring up something a little interesting to mix it up on here.

I havent done this before. Dlockz did something close but, not the same as this. I will include a poll. However, Im pretty sure what the results will be with the Ronnie homers on here. A portion will vote top 5, the biggest % will come for 6-10, and a good chunk at 11-15. Some people will be realistic, but not many Im sure. Id like to see the results though.

Here's what Im going to do. Im going to go through the entire NFL and list backs. If I feel they are better than Ronnie, they will get a yes. If I dont they will get a NO.

I havent done this on paper before, so Im not sure where he is going to come out in my book. I know it will be a lot lower than most people on here.

Now Ive often stated, that outside of the top handful of RBs in this league, its really tough to say who's better. I honestly feel that way. So youre going to probably see quite a few guys that I wont say yes or no to and I of course will give an explaination on most of those, or even some that I give a vote but, feel its close. Im sure that will be the case with a lot of players. There are a lot of really good backs in this league and some have different styles, so its very difficult to say one guy is clearly better than the other.

Anyways, here goes nothing.........

Lets start in the AFC and we will go division by division on each roster.....

Fred Taylor : No. Great career and definately better than Ronnie's but were going to go with right now. This is the problem I had with Dlockz post about this topic was he went against Ronnie career wise, but didnt give Ronnie that same benefit when comparing him to younger players. Were going who's the better back right now for the sake of this debate. Of course Ronnie is injured right now(go figure:lol:) so I suppose you could argue anyone who is healthy is better than he is right now, but what would we have as a debate if we did that.

Maroney : Tough call. Id say this is a player you could easily lump into that huge group I spoke of to preface this thing. I guess I will go with no to appease the Ronnie homers. But, this is closer than most of you want to admit. In fact I wouldnt have a problem with someone arguing Maroney is better.

Anyone else on the Pats roster : No

Thomas Jones : YES. And its not even close. Ronnie homers get real. Thomas Jones not only has had a great career but, is still one of the best backs in this league. Dont even argue it. Just get real.

Greene and Washington : No. Greene is a rookie and Washington is a change of pace guy.

Lynch : No

Fred Jackson : No.

Ricky: YES. Damn straight. Dont even argue it. He has had the better career, accomplished more, and is the better player right now and it shows.

So on Ronnie's own team thats 1 yes and 2 so far through 1 division.

Jamal Lewis : Great career. But, on his last leg.

Anyone on Pittsburgh : No

Ray Rice: YES. Hell yes. Im not giving you homers this one. Ray Rice is a ****ing animal. One of the best backs in the league. If you want to argue this one, go ahead, but Rice is tough as hell and most anywhere outside of FH you will be disagreed with if you think Ronnie is better.

McGahee: This one is close. I will give it to the Ronnie homers on this one, but Im not so certain McGahee hasnt accomplished more than Ronnie has over the last few years.

Cedric Benson: YES. Benson is having a monster season and can carry the load unlike Ronnie. Well wait. I guess this one is close. I just realized how much everyone will whine. Fine. I will say its too close to call and not go with a Yes here.

Larry Johnson: YES and dont even argue. He is still fairly young and has had some monster seasons that Ronnie has never come close to.

2 more in that division takes my total to 4.

Chris Johnson:YES and dont even argue. Best RB in the league and Peterson is the only one who can clear his throat in dispute.

Lendale White: You could argue this maybe, but I wont. Down year for him.

Addai: No

MJD: Yes and dont argue

Anyone the Texans have:NO

2 more in that division takes us to 6 in my totals

Anyone the Raiders have : No

Anyone the Chiefs have : No

Broncos : NOsure Knowshan. Still a rookie.

LT: Career yes. Right now....nah, but you might want to argue this one. But, I would take Ronnie right now.

Sproles: No

So through the AFC I have 6 backs better than Ronnie and Im being liberal to his cause for you homers.

Lets start the NFC..........

Jacobs :YES

Bradshaw: No still too young but this kid could be a beast in the future

Barber: Too close to call

Choice:Honestly I think this is the best back Dallas has and they dont use him enough. I will say no because he dosent have the credentials to hold an argument, but this kid is talented.

Jones: Id hate to make you guys think I hate Ronnie, but Jones is a damn fine back. I will give it to Ronnie, but this is another of at least 20 players that you could go either way again.

Portis: Yes. Both injured this year and Portis has the career credentials that makes it hard to argue Ronnie.

Westbrook :YES. See Portis

McCoy : Rookie

So thats 3 guys in this division and you really have to twist the argument certain ways to keep it at that in Ronnie's favor. That makes it 9 players Im up to.

Peterson: YES
Grant : NO
Jones : NO
Forte : NO

Not much explanation needed in that division. Im up to 10.

Any of the Bucs guys : No

Deangelo:YES you bet youre *** and dont even argue.
James Stewart: YUP. The guy is a great player who gets overshadowed a bit because Deangelo is so good. Really he is Ronnie's equal so I will give this a push instead.

Turner: YES Again dont argue. When Ronnie puts together a season like Turner had last year, let me know.

Any of the Saints guys: NO

Chalk up 2 more guys better than Ronnie and that makes 12. On to the last division on the league.

Arizona's guys: No
Seattles : No

Steven Jackson : YES. Get real if you think Ronnie is better than him

Frank Gore : YES. Gore is a great player. Let me know when Ronnie touches on of Gore's normal seasons.

So thats 15. FIFTEEN guys I have that are better than Ronnie and most of those you really cant even begin to argue even if you homer up. In fact there are quite a few that are CLOSE that could go against Ronnie. Being the 16th best RB in a league of 32 teams isnt a great player folks.

Ronnie is a good football player, I would never argue he isnt. But, he makes way too much money for what he is worth and is HIGHLY overvalued by the homers around this place.

Discuss.

And I love how everybody you choose you write "Don't even try to argue"

Wasn't this thread made to...well, argue?

I don't even have to include Ronnie in the argument..cause that's just too personal for anyone here to be objective on;

Thomas Jones and Brandon Jacobs 'hell yes'...but Rashad Mendenhall no?? Addai and Slaton no? Benson and Larry Johnson yes??

Lynch can go either way....but the guy who has taken his starting job is a flat-out no....makes sense.

you my friend are a fool (can I say that in an endearing way w/o breaking the TOS?).

Well yea, but some of the ones you cant really make a logical argument for Ronnie, but Im sure some of you will.

3 votes already for 5-10. Id really like to hear what guys you put Ronnie over to get into the top 10. Get real.

You wrote it for Larry Johnson.

I mean

C'MON MAN!

I considered that. But, you must weigh career into this debate as well. Lynch has had a decent little career so far. Fred Jackson hasnt even started a full year in this league. You see what Im getting at? Lynch's career numbers so far are probably pretty close to what Ronnie has accomplished. In fact, he probably has had the better full season. But, I would definately take Ronnie over him. The fact Fred Jackson took his job this season does say something. And there is no way to argue Fred Jackson is better than Ronnie so thats why he gets a flat out no. Understand?

You really think Mendenhal is better than Thomas Jones. Come on.

And finally, yes you may call me a fool. Im not offended. Were all here in good fun.

You wrote it for Larry Johnson.

C'MON MAN!

I knew someone would challenge that one. When Ronnie even sniffs a season like Larry Johnson put up MULTIPLE times let me know. Then as soon as he gets out of KC he had a nice game last week too. If you think Ronnie is better than Larry Johnson, youre being a total homer.

Well whats to discuss, you barred us from arguing half of your picks. Thank god for guys like you that know it all so the rest of us idiots know what to think. :rolleyes2:

Who cares!!! Unless your planning on trading Ronnie for one of them then what is the point of this except to try and beat down someone you clearly don't like!

Ronnie has been good for us, he been injured alittle more then you'd like but then again you like Gore and he has the hardest time staying on the field. Benson is having a decent year finally and he's better then Ronnie, C'mon man how stupid is that judgement!!!!

Ricky's so good they have to limit his carries in one game and throw 52 times in another!!!!! Stop living in the past, Ricky is a great help to Ronnie but cannot carry the load anymore.

Westbrook has proved over and over he can't carry the load, what's he doing now? Sitting next to Ronnie! The has talent but is a completely different back then Ronnie.

So basically you've been able to come up with C.Johnson, A.Peterson, D.Williams, J.Stewart, T.Jones, R.Rice, L.Johnson,MJD, Turner and Jacobs. I could argue Jacobs, and L.Johnson as they have had little impact for a period of time. L.J had a great oline and did well, with a weak line he has done nothing - Ronnies never had a great Oline until now, Jacobs is one of 3 and outside of one maybe two years has done very little.

So we still find Ronnie as a top ten back, I again go back to what is your point???

Ronnies ours and will be for atleast another year like it or not!

Thomas Jones - he's tough, he's durable, he's dependable. that's where my compliments for him end. He's not explosive, he's no where near special. he gives you what the offensive line gives him....nothing more, nothing less. he contributes nothing in the passing game.

Same goes for Brandon Jacobs.

Give me Peirre Thomas over either of them any day (yet you dismissed him w/o comment as well)

If you are gonna give M.Lynch the 'career' nod, after losing his starting job in only his 3rd season, to an average back....how do you not say that Jamal Lewis is better....or even Amahn Green?? Clearly their supperior careers make up the difference for none being starting quality now, no?

Ask yourself this.....who would you want starting for your team next year?? I put Ronnie at about 10 without counting them...but he's probably between 10-12.

Well through 10 votes, it has gone just as I predicted. The homers are out in full force. We got 2 people who are completely insane who put him in the top 5. Id like to hear that explaination for sure.

But, the bulk of the vote is going to go in that 5-10 area. Id really like to hear this. Just off my list, which guys are you putting Ronnie ahead of to get him in the top 10?

Peterson
Gore
S.Jackson
Westbrook
Portis
Jacobs
Jones Drew
Larry Johnson
Chris Johnson
Ray Rice
Thomas Jones
Ricky
Turner
Deangelo Williams
Cedric Benson

Which 6 guys do you think Ronnie is better than? Id like to hear you explain all 6 of them if youre voting Ronnie between 6-10.

I'll take Ronnie over those 7 easily.

I mean c'mon...Westbrook rushed for about 200 yds this season and may never play again. LJ was just cut from one of the worst teams in the league and is avg under 4 ypc....Benson just gets more carries than anyone else...

You say Thomas Jones isnt explosive....neither is Ronnie.

Pierre Thomas is certainly a good player, but I cant say he is better than Ronnie based off a good tail end of last season and a decent season so far.

Youre right about Lynch. I shouldnt have hesitated to say NO when it comes to him. I failed to realize he has only been in the league a couple of seasons. Seems like 6 years ago he was running people over....literally.

Jamal Lewis had a great career. No doubt. I mentioned that. The dude had a 2k yard season. Helluva lot more than Ronnie will ever accomplish. Yet, as it is now, there is no way you can take him over Ronnie.

Remember, we are considering career, but its who would you rather have right now.

Lewis finished. Ronnie still has about 24 games over a 5 year span left in him. That was a good wisecrack, c'mon.

Good arguments. I would give you that. I think by using what you have done you could make a legit argument to put Ronnie in the top 10. Nice job. :thanks:

Larry Johnson isn't as good as Brown. Somewhere in your post you said you were basing this off RIGHT NOW, and yet you're defending Larry Johnson by saying he put together some nice seasons in KC a couple years ago??
