NFL Reaches Tentative Labor Settlement

good news, it looks like the PA and owners have come to an agreement, but the owners are going to hold it up again. I hope that they can get the rev sharing thing all settled quickly but from everything that I have read they are in major disagreement on the subject

Great post, lets hope the games can begin thursday. I say we sign breese at 6:01 on thursday. I will keep my fingers crossed.

What's changed here, that wasn't already announced this morning????

It looks like the only thing that's different are the terms being used. It went from "Have Agreed in Principle" this morning, to "Reaches Tentative Labor Settlement" as of this minute....

Other than those words being changed, I don't see anything that verifies any true progress being made. More smoke and mirrors....

PHINZ RULE!!!

If the owners don't take the deal Tagliabue supports. The small market-large market division is what is going to kill this deal. And Tags should tell 'em, "screw you guys, I'm outta here". If you're not going to accept the deal when you know I've been getting the job done for the NFL owners and the games best interests for years. Go find yourself another commissioner.

Edit: Reading the article a second time can see my mistake, was probably based on wishful thinking. Apparently the Post was refuting earlier reports that the deal had Tags endorsement. Oh well.:shakeno:

If there is an agreement today, any chance FA gets moved up and we sign Brees tomorrow?

Youre right Blitz. Its a very misleading title, since there cant be any agreement unless BOTH sides agree. And at the moment, the Owners havent ratified the proposal yet, and there no indication whatsoever that theyre even leaning in that direction.

The article is simply stating that the NFL (Paul Tagliabues office) and the NFLPA (Upshaw) are in agreement. It doesnt mean the owners will accept the plan. Mort reported the same thing late last night.

It will get done. This is the NFL and they always get it done. I just hope that the garunteed contracts get put in ther because their is no excuse for the NFL being the only league without them. These players put their futures on the line every day and is more suspect to injuries than any other type of sports figures. If Upshaw was concerned with the players that would be what the holdup is but it's not and I for one think the whole thing is bs.

So assuming they work out the CBA now after multiple extended deadlines, how long do you think before the first agent sues, saying his client was cut because of the deadlines, which were not upheld? What about teams saying they never would've released their big ticket guys, but they were assuming they had to meet one of these deadlines? Just curious if these multiple extensions will cause some lawyering to occur.
