NFL says no games will be blacked out on TV during the 2015 season

As long as they cater to the rich the blue collars just can't afford a day at the game. A family of 4 is the same price as a large HD TV........

Ross on making stadium smaller: Not as many people come to games as they did in the past but it also gives better experience.

This can't be seen as anything but positive from the fan's perspective.

It's expensive as hell to go to the game . . . and the experience at home is a very favorable/inexpensive option. Just makes these billionaires work harder and spend more money to make the experience that much more worth it for fans that can manage to make it to games. Diehards that spend hard earned money on jerseys and other apparel shouldn't be punished because the rent is due.

I think the courts decided this for them. I do not think the NFL decided to do this on their own.

As long as Ross understands the primary reason "not as many" people come to the game . . . then we have something.

Correct, this was in the making for over a year now . . . and I'm sure the NFL is going to find a way to loophole, which is why they only suspended the blackout rule for a year.

Ross says renovated stadium life span will be 25-30 years

Ross: Right now I love owning the Dolphins and I have no intention of doing anything to the contrary.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross says he loves owning the Team. No intention to sell until accomplishes goals of making club "first in class

For those that want him to sell the team doesn't seem likely at this time.

25/30 years is extremely optimistic. If the stadium can hold up for half that time, that would be impressive. Hopefully there is a strong yearly offseason "touch up plan" in place so where it doesn't fall apart so quickly. Can't have the dull paint/paint chipping that the old stadium had after such a recent renovation.

I do think Ross likes owning the team . . . I'd never put it past him to sell the team if the right offer came along, he is a business man at heart, but I think he enjoys being an owner of such a great franchise. He's got the money to treat it like a toy.

I do not believe that blue collars can not afford games. I believe they make a conscious decision to watch the games on TV for a variety of reasons.

1. The games on TV can be more enjoyable for several reasons.

2. The experience at the stadium can be negative for people due to the behavior of other fans in attendance. Personally, I would never take my children to an NFL game.

3. A lot of people are already paying a premium to see all of the games on TV via Sunday Ticket and want to take advantage of that.

4. A lot of people are into fantasy football and enjoy being able to see any game they wish at any time. I enjoy switching to other games when the Phins are on a commercial break. I can even put a thing on that notifies me when our game is back on so that I never miss a play. I also enjoy being able to watch whatever game I choose during the time the Phins are not playing.

5. Red Zone channel is wildly popular, especially with fantasy gurus. I do not really care for red zone channel, but a lot of other people do. I enjoy watching a game and understanding what has transpired that influences play calls and decisions etc etc... If I want highlights, I will watch highlights. Red Zone channel is for fantasy players who really do not understand what they are watching IMHO, but to each his own.

6. With the technology available through TV these days, the experience of watching a game at home is much different from being at the stadium. There are pros and cons to each.

Having said all of that, I really have no desire to make the investment of attending a game. If I lived in South Florida I would purchase season tickets and attend all of the games, but that is just me. I can certainly understand why someone would choose to watch games on TV as opposed to being at the stadium though. I would not say that blue collar people can not afford to attend games. I just believe they choose not to and I do not blame them.

Okay this thread should be changed to Ross thread sorry..this is from Phoenix..

Ross says Mike Wallace "apologized" to Dennis hickey and mike Tannenbaum for what happened in final game.

Ross: Team has gotten younger, it's gotten faster and higher quality. We probably have a little some depth.

Doesn't affect me at all...my brother owns a sport's bar so I can watch pretty much any game I want, and the Denver Donkeys are sold out every week, in case I want to watch them. Seems to me like the NFL should not be able to dictate policies regarding the televising of games, that should be up to the FCC.

The fans need to still (try) attend as many games as possible. The renovations might help that issue. There's nothing like being apart of the live action; in the shade (among other renewals) can bring in many fans on its own. Who knows, maybe, just maybe the ticket/parking fees will be lowered, not! I can only wish.

It really has gotten ridiculously expensive to attend games...the tickets, parking, food/beers...all very expensive

This sucks.

In the words of Jerry Maguire....I LOVE THE BLACKOUT!!

Hell, it's not just the NFL.

I love going to watch Pittsburgh Penguins games. I used to make it to anywhere from 8-10 per year. (Post Lemieux, pre Crosby - I'd go to 20/season)

Last year I went to two.

This year? Just one.
