NFL Thinking of getting rid of the kickoff

i swear before long they'll be playing flag football in the nfl...good grief...goodell is making this sport into patty cake

Watching sportscenter and they mentioned it. They are also debating about it on PTI.

According to the NFL, kickoffs are the most dangerous play in football and a high percentage of injuries occur because of kickoffs.

In my own opinion, football is naturally a game of high-speed collisions. It shouldn't even be in question whether to take kickoffs out of the game. We pay to see these guys play, and they get paid very well because of their skill and because of the risks involved. I am losing more and more respect for the NFL trying to turn this into some kind of pedestrian game.

What are your thoughts?
Might as well have the players start wearing tampons, if everyone is so worried about everyone getting hurt. This suppose to be the NFL, players are going to get hurt. It's apart of the game.

Seriously...what's next no more tackling? This **** is getting to be ridiculous

Kickoffs are one of the most exciting things about the game because anything can happen. The onside kicks, some razzle dazzle, 100 TD returns. It would be a shame to lose all of that.

I already think the league is getting too soft as it is...

Of course there's risk involved but these guys play a game for millions of dollars. There's tons of risks in real jobs everyday and you don't make anything close tot hese guys. Coal miners could get stuck in mines, window washers scaffolds could fall, electrician could electrocute himself and die, firefighters, police etc....so excuse me if I don't give a **** about mega millionaires gettin concussions.

there's no doubt the league is getting too soft...but they don't want to pay all these massive brain damage lawsuits etc that will surely come down the road if they don't take all steps to protect players...still you don't have to play pro football you get paid damn well you want to play and get payed you take the risk of eating your meals out of a straw late in life...the old school guys sure i get it and the league should protect them more given what little we knew then but these guys now a days i just don't want to hear you didn't know what you were doing to yourself playing this sport...all they see is dollar signs...

but honestly these guys are killing the game with how soft its become...but whats not to be expected...we are raising a generation of soft kids as it is...everyone gets a trophy everyones a winner...what a bunch of girls

The NFL will NOT get rid of the kickoff. Ever. Maybe they continue to mess around with the schematics of it, but that's it.

Be aswell just pick from the 1st & 2nd round, because the rest are b/up & special teams, and they might not see the field, if there is'nt any kickoffs and punt return's, wtf is football coming too................

dreday: my eyes have just exploded out my head after seeing that luscious babe in your sig.

Football isn't as steeped in tradition as baseball, and even baseball went to the DH in the AL. There was a time when backs could be in motion before the snap, the goalposts were on the goal line, the flying wedge was legal, you could hit receivers past the 5 yard line and you could just tee off on the quarterback, to name a few. The game has been changed over the years due to both competition and player safety concerns. I wouldn't be surprised to see this.

That would be great news for the Phins as we suck on kick offs and defensively covering kick offs. One less hole that we never seem to fill/plug anyways to be concerned about! I'd be very upset if I was one of th elite KR in the league, as that's how they make their money.
