NFL Total Access AFC Predictions

let me clarify....recent historical proof. we haven't had odds like that in how long?

which means saying "only the dolphins" as false....since we have needed forever just to get here.

I agree, the logic of last week means nothing, teams look like **** one week and bounce back. I'm feeling as confident as I was queasy last week. I think we put together a complete game this week

Personally, Im not concerned about the crew of NFL network slithering their way to that serpents den they call a set to make their slimy selections.

Other than Nicole Zaloumis, there are bunch of A$$clowns on NFLN... but enough about Mariucci & Deion doing highlights on Sunday.

Let me answer some of these:

* I think the Dolphins have a lousy killer instinct. That has not changed.
* They left a **** LOAD of points and plays on the table in the 1st half vs. the Jets.
* I do not like Miami's play calling.
* I was WRONG and Kevin Coyle did a great job adjusting to the new QB.
* Simms did NOT breath life into the lifeless Jets.
* Rex DID do a great job keeping his team in the game as they were dominated, yet down only six points.

I do not back off what I said because some of it was right and others wrong.

Kurt Warner usually had good points of view and not a loud mouth like the other guys. As far as the women goes, there's a woman on the fantasy football show who is pretty hot. I don't know what her name is though

Philbin is a mixed bag (which is a step up from Sparano who was downright terrible). Philbin is well organized, has a disciplined albeit cautious squad, and has kept the team together. So he deserves credit in some respects.

But Philbin is certainly worthy of significant criticism. Just to name a couple of points:

1. Philbin is the opposite of Shula in adapting his system to the talent a his disposal. Philbin stubbornly clings to his system even when he doesn't have good scheme fits. For example, he runs a ZBS with guys who are not athletic or move well enough. I mean, look at John Jerry. He can't run block to save his life in this system. Secondly, this defensive personnel is set up for a 34 defense.
2. The team consistently lays a big fat egg at times. Last year against Tennessee. WTH was that? Wasn't it like 37-3 against a sub-par team. This year Buffalo at home. Tampa. You can't just expect Miami to win games they are supposed to like you could with Shula. Philbin is an unbelievably slow learner on getting his team prepared to play EVERYONE. Whatever he is doing, he needs to see what he is doing wrong and fix it. But we haven't seen that as we all saw last week. In general, the guy seems stubborn to his beliefs and in denial on coaching corrections that need to be made.
3. The stubbornness further manifests itself in the lack of game day adjustments. I mean, on game day we on this site were complaining about how Buffalo was perfectly timing the snap count. Then our concerns were validated by McKinnie's post game comments. How they can't fix this during the game is beyond me. Further, Miami stops running the ball if it doesn't work initially. But if passing isn't working, in heavy winds no less, Miami sticks with passing. That is so incongruous. It was fatal that Miami deserted the running game. Statistically Buffalo is not good against the run. That stubbornness was absurd. Moreover, Miami's lack of production offensively in the 4th quarter is alarming. Again, this reflects poor coaching with respect to scheming and in-game adjustments.

Even with all the mistakes Ireland has made, you could argue Philbin has made as many mistakes. The difference might be that Philbin makes a better overall impression based on intelligence and presence. But Philbin needs to make drastic improvement. I think we are looking at another year of Philbin so let's hope the light bulb goes on the way it sometimes does for a raw athlete.

This is a BS comment by Joe at his presser today:

Andrew Abramson ‏@AbramsonPBP 45m
Philbin: I don't think we were flat last week. I think we didn't play a particularly good game of football.

Now he's being a complete and utter moron and successfully making himself look like a moron. It is clear they were flat as they were many other times this season.

They didnt play a particularly good game of football? They didnt play ANY game of football.

I see a tight football team Sunday that leads to indecision on defense, penalties and turnovers. They have to find a way to play the game in the moment. That takes leadership from the HC and leaders of the team.

Also, Joe gets credit for steering the ship through the choppy waters Jon Martin created. However, the more I think of it, it is more of Joe's management style than it is him being a great leader. Great leaders have their teams peaking at major moments of the season.

Ireland sucks.

That is fine. However, if you jettison him from the organization and do not elevate someone from within OR allow Joe to select his own GM, it is a mistake. I will be the biggest critic if Ross creates a forced marriage with a new GM from the outside and Philbin. Philbin should be fired if you want an outside candidate to come in.

Everyone understands that this Jets team is even more dangerous knowing their coach is coming back?

I agree with you that is the conventional wisdom...but we are talking this year's Fins team. I think it is the Jets and makes me SICK to my stomach to think that. However, I call **** as I see it. I am not sure if I have been more confident in this notion than I am now.

All of this is based on your feel, how did you feel about the Pats and how did you feel about the last Jets game.
The Jets beat the Browns last week and they are now on a roll, with one of the worst coaches in the league playing for his job, so based on this **** storm they will win.
you are kidding , right.

I thought the Fins would lose to the Pats and beat the Jets in the first game.

The Jets will play loose because they have nothing to lose. No pressure...esp. with Rex supposedly returning.

Joe's team will be tight and make mistakes. It takes a special coach to get his team to play at a high level with the pressure on...that is not Joe Philbin.
