...because the season is 16 games long and not just one game. We lost to the Bills twice and the Buccaneers, yet we beat top teams like the Colts, Bengals and Patriots. Last week was last week and just because we lost doesn't guarantee a loss this week. Just like a Week 15 victory against the Patriots didn't guarantee a win against the Bills.
The Dolphins overall have a poor offensive line and the Bills have one of the better defensive lines in the entire league. Thad Lewis didn't beat us in those two matchups, it was the dominance by the defensive line against our offensive line that did it. The Jets don't pose that same problem to the Dolphins, and that was already proven once this season when the Dolphins pounded the Jets just a few weeks ago up in New York.
I am not saying that Dolphins are guaranteed to win or anything like that, but simply disputing that thought that because we lost last week seems to conclude that we can't win this week. It is more likely than not that the Dolphins win this game, not the other way around.
This man just hit it out of the park. Too many people over react based on what happened the week before in the NFL. This is all across the league, not just relative to the Phins.
Now, the Jests may in fact win this game, it is possible, but based on what we know over 15 games, it is highly unlikely. Lets look at some other things...................
The Jests are 1-6 on the road this year..... FOR A REASON.
The Jests are simply NOT A GOOD TEAM. In fact, its damn near amazing that they have won 7 out of 15 games. They have the worst starting QB in the league.
Look at the point differentials of the AFC teams. It demonstrates what I felt at the beginning of the season. The Raiders, Jags, and Jests are the worst teams in the AFC(along with the Texans which I didnt expect and I dont think anyone else did).
Now the Bills beat our asses last week AND they beat us at home earlier in the year. It just happens that the Bills pose matchup problems for us. Almost all of these NFL teams have some talent and can beat you. Its all about matchups. Buffalo's strength goes right against our biggest weakness.
Now you may want to inform me that the Jests also have a great DL. They do. However, the difference in the Bills and Jests is the Jests have NOTHING to cover anyone with. Its been shown all season that they can be torched in the secondary. We had so many guys wide open in that Jests game that had Tannehill played as well as he did vs. the Pats against them, we score 40 points. Our passing attack relies on quick throws that beat the pass rush. If you dont have guys who can cover for at least a couple of seconds, it can nullify your pass rush. Also, I would argue that the Jests DL is not as good as the Bills in terms of getting to the QB.
Last but, certainly not least....... if we dont turn the ball over, Id like to know how anyone thinks the Jests will score on us. This is a damn good defense we have and teams with pure garbage at QB and little to no threats at skill positions dont have much of a chance against us. We saw that in the first game. Hell, the Bills offense never mustered much against us in either game. Yet, the Bills offense is more talented than the Jests.
The only prayer the Jests have in this game would be to dominate in the rushing game. Then defensively they are going to need to hope Tannehill does not play well and gives them easy scoring opportunities. Otherwise, this game will get away from them.
There will be opportunities for Tannehill to make plays down the field on Sunday. If he plays well, the Jests have no chance. Really a lot rides on Tannehill this week. He has to exploit the Jests poor secondary, as most teams have this year.
Make a big deal out of a bad showing last week if you will, but the only effect that outcome has on this game is it makes the phins even more focused and determined to get a bitter taste out of their mouths. I think it spells real bad news for the Jests who are clearly one of the worst teams in the league.
27-10 Phins.
