One day the Miami Dolphins will win the SuperBowl. Could be next year could be 110 years, but im sure (thats the faith i have ;)) we will win it again.

However after you win the big one in this league thats it, youve won the big one. In 'soccer' and many other sports (all non US) the champions of leagues all aroud the world then go into a Champions tournement to see who is the best in the world. of course Europe has its own one, like was south amercia etc...

Its impossible at the moment id say, but do you wish there was some world event that the SB winners coud go onto after the big win? If Canada started a league with NFL rules for example and teams everywhere in the world (only if they have a highish standard) could compete?

I know...what about all those extra games? Well how about just a 4 team world tourney or something...just to keep teams that win the SB looking for more glory.

Just a thought....:)

(To be honest ive posted this to get away from T.O, Saban, Gus vs Sage etc threads and give a new fresh topic)

Interesting idea, but the quality of American-style football throughout the world is far, far, far worse than what we have here right now. It'd probably take another 50 years of nurturing the sport around the world before you could even think of something like this.

Soccer (futball) is different in that essentially every country on the face of the earth plays it and has for a long time. As such, there is a lot of talent around the world, including here in the U.S. now.

Nice idea, but I'm afraid we'll be in wheel chairs attached to oxygen tanks before something like this happens.

Not enough good players. the CFL has far less talent. some countries need sports that don't need $17 billion in TV support. You know a ball and a field and a goal post. I think World should not be used if you did not beat other countries however. Its all EGO.

I'm all for it. Of course it would take some time before international teams could be really competitive with U.S. teams, but it would happen eventually. Look at the fantastic international teams in the Olympic basketball, baseball, and hockey competitions.
The NFL has indicated an interest in making the league more international. The first step seems to be playing regular season NFL games abroad. Then perhaps launching expansion teams abroad.

A true world championship game would be really cool.

That's not a bad idea..I'd love to see like our best probowlers play together a few times and show the world who's boss. We'd probably just dominate the world for a looooong time, until somebody comes around plays great and gets lucky like they beat us in basketball.

Basketball is a great example of how this could work long term, with the rest of the world just getting better. But even that is skewed, as we don't put forth our truly best players anymore, and none of them seem to take it seriously (which annoys the hell out of me). Right now, the best b-ball teams in the world beat us because they play like teams and we play like individual marketing units.

But it would be fun to see, and I hope it does happen someday, even if it is quite a ways off. I think you'll see a USA World Cup soccer champion two or three times before something like a Football World Cup is ever considered

Although it is EXTREMELY unlikely i've always wished there was Olympic football. I know we'd just crush everyone every year though....I know that sounds arrogant but come on. Our USA Olympic team would be like a Pro Bowl roster. Not only would it be the best of the best but it would be the best of the AFC and NFC COMBINED....that's some heavy duty stuff. I just think it'd be nice to play a sport in the Olympics that is our forte.

Honestly one thing I'd like to see is strenghtening the NFL Europe. Sadly, the NFL is horrible at overseas marketing, which I see as the biggest problem in terms of wordwide growth.

Let me give you an example. Here in Denmark, I get about five NFL games a week. Those games are all played a few thousand miles away from me, but I still get them on TV. Guess how many NFL Europe games I get on TV every week?

0.

That's right, although I live a few hundred miles away from NFL Europe venues, I don't get to see a single game, while games thousands of miles away are covered every week.

The NFL is definately growing in Europe, and it's not because of the NFL, but because of national TV networks have found a way to make it mainstream in some countries. In Denmark for example, it is one of the fastest growing sports, and in five years it's become the 2nd most watched sport in the nation (on TV). That's primarily because the station has a team of commentators with excellent chemistry, who keep it simple so new people can catch on easily and the overall show is fantastic.

Now the problem is that countries in Europe have to rely on the networks doing the marketing and not the NFL. Honestly sometimes I wonder if the NFL even want to spread this sport around the world, that's how little work they do.

While everyone may not think it's the greatest sport in the world, it is undeniably one of the most entertaining sports with lots of focus on showmanship. If the NFL were to just utilize this a little bit, they could do wonders with it.

Why the NFL isn't doing anything to spread this sport is beyond me. The things needed to launch this sport around the world, and especially in Europe, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out.

not until Brazil quits playing it

NFL Europe is a disapointment.

Im fine with it being a development league but cant they get more teams or at least spread the teams around, at the moment is has 5 GERMAN AND 1 DUTCH!!! :yell: Whats that all about?

The League, if it wants to stay 6 teams should do this...

1 Dutch (The Admirals)
2 German (Frankfurt @ Berlin)
1 English/Brittish
1 Danish
1 French?

While all the players playing for the teams will be mostly American, the counrty can get behind a NFL team and then when they find out about the real league and they all fall in love with the Miami Dolphins....the NFL has a huge audience..

Our best players would probably never want to play to avoid injury.

Tbh, at this stage, im sure the backups would win mate.

However times will change and like the peeps have staed above, if the NFL acts now the world teams could grow and give the NFL stars a challenge :)

Wow, I'm shocked to hear about the lack of marketing for NFL Europe ... from Europeans themselves. Over here, they act like it's a big deal over there. You're right, they should market it a little better. I'm sure it will happen in time.
