Looks like we will have this sissy sniffing around.

Teammates might be denying that anything untoward prompted Dolphins tackle Jonathan Martin to leave the team.
But NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith wants to find out more, and will be visiting the Dolphins soon to see what’s going on, considering it a “major priority.”
According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, Smith was scheduled to be there today, but changed plans after Dolphins coach Joe Philbin gave players the day off following last night’s win.
The union wants to gather facts, and has touched base with the team and people close to Martin to try to find out more.
The Dolphins declined to comment when asked whether they were aware of reports of bullying and taunting. Philbin likewise steered clear when asked post-game.
“I’d like to say in regard to Jonathan that any player with an injury or illness, our primary concern is for the health of the individual,” Philbin said. “With respect to Jonathan, he’s been excused with a non-football illness. Our concern and support are with him. Really, that’s all I’m going to say on the matter.”
That’s fine, but the NFLPA has more questions, and rightfully so.

The NFLPA knows what happened, since most of the leadership that played pro ball
did exactly the same thing or worse.

ETA; Did they look into the documented incident where Prince Akumora (sp) was tossed
into a cold tub by JPP over in NY? To me, that's worse than some name calling.

Guys on espn ripping into dolphins and joe phillbin for letting this mess happen. Espn says they dont think martin can recover and come back at all. Anyone else catch that? Pretty crazy

Has it even been confirmed that Martin has a metal illness?

I'm taking my ball and going home is a lot different than I need help.

This is the same crap that happens on every team. We can now expect anti-bullying ads sponsored by the NFL.

Call me crazy but, the only thing I can see causing something this serious is if Martin was being bashed for being gay. (Nothing wrong with it personally)

I know the idea is out of left field. But, hazing and bullying to the extent to walk out on your team? I don't think any "Oh Martin, you can't block...big weirdo, pork chop" would do it.

Maybe this is the case that breaks the mold for gay athletes and the bullying that can occur if Martin decided to come out to teammates or teammates suspected it?

Eh, I'm not saying that it can't be that, but I don't think there's any reason to suspect that's what it is. If you're right, though, the circus is coming to town - in the form of a highly publicized lawsuit.

That is a plausible scenerio. Like you said; Nothing wrong with being gay, but it's entirely possible
that was the issue. I, for the life of me can't comprehend how a grown man
that plays football for a living is run out of his workplace over words and some
stunts that are juvenile at best, especially now that it's coming to light that he participated
in the same sorts of actions.

I love how the media wants to get answers to all the questions and want to blow it out of proportion but thanks to HIPAA they're no privileged to any information regarding mental health issues. They need to shut up and move on.

Didn't martin post on his facebook to not always believe what you read/hear? I take that as, don't believe the stupid rumors from the retarded beat writers.

I really think the issue is that Martin has never been in a locker room with so many dumb jocks before. I don't think they have a bunch of meatheads like Incognito at Stanford, and since Martin's parents are Harvard educated, I take it he went to prep school, where the lockerroom wasn't typical juvenile high school stuff.

But he is REALLY mentally weak if he can't figure out a way to deal with the unfamiliar dynamic of the NFL lockerroom. He just isn't cut out for this kind of work.He should just quit and go to grad school or something and find a line of work more suited for him.

Cant believe ppl defending the dolphins on this. This isnt high school anymore. Dolphins should represent our franchise better than this. Philbin needs to cut this secrecy bullcrap n say he is going to take care of the problem. Stop lettin that worthless aponte tell u how to run ur team.

This may be the case.

But this is a new PC world...
