NFP Sunday Blitz-Is Tannehill being pushed up the boards?

I get what your saying about sometimes you have to take a risk but if the draft class wasn't so weak for qbs he wouldn't even be considered as a first round selection based on his inexperience and the fact that he's a project. I know there's no guarantee in drafting n there's not really a "sure thing" especially at qb but id rather go with someone who can contribute immediately. All this tannehill goin top 10 is media hype. For all we know teams might not be that high on him to draft him top ten. He might fall on draft day. Everyone here at finheaven was convinced ryan mallet was a sure first round pick and he slid to the 3rd. Its all speculation at this point from all the anylysts. Before free agency I didn't see one person mention him going in the first round. Now all of a sudden he's going top ten....its a big reach at 8 for a "project player" when we need immediate contributors at other positions.

You never know. Phillip rivers was not being mentioned as a top 5 to 10 pick in his draft and many on this board were saying he was a reach where we took Jason Allen. Im not so sure Tannehill is such a project player that some make him out to be especially since he knows the offense. I see Weeden as much more of a project and risk than him

Look I personally have not seen a whole lot of tannehill play so im not gonna sit here and act like I know more than someone else. I just don't want to waste a pick when im finally excited about the direction the teams going. I think the addition of philbin and his staff will have a bigger impact than any free agent or draft pick. I just have no problem with rolling with moore and garrard if it came down to it. Tannehill at 8 just scares me when there's better talent on the board (better as of now tannehill is raw but supposedy has alot of upside). I understand people want a first round qb but I don't think you should take second round talent just to say you took a qb in the first.

There's alot of mixed views on tannehill and the conflicting opinions of analysts and scouts is concerning to me. There seems to be alot of uncertainty with him. I think it has to do with the inexperience but the high ceiling people talk about. People see potential but really aren't sure what he will be able to do at the pro level. Every thing I read says he's a project player tho.if we were talking about selecting him late 1st round I think id feel better about doing so but there's more immediate impact players available at pick 8.

if you like a player and its basically up to sherman I assume but hey its ireland in charge who does have strange ideas how to build a winner and he liked Tannehill you cant trade down because he wont be there. I personally dont trust Ireland to try to find an impact player as you say because he hasnt drafted one in his time here. Even with the high picks on the oline the major impact has been a dolphin tying sack record. We definatelly cant afford to keep acting like Qb is just another position on a team and I think its obvious this regime even with the success Moore had has no faith in him. I mean where is the extension and all the qb's we brought in.

You should try to hunt down some of Tannehill's games from last year. He's fun to watch. Not RG3 levels of fun and virtuosity, but when you watch him his tools are pretty evident. Freakishly athletic, good size, strong arm. I remember seeing him in games last year and not really giving a **** because all I could think of was Luck, Barkley, RG3, but he stood out as being unusually fast and competent running the offense. When you look at his limited time as a starter you want to attach untapped potential to him. I see more there than I saw in Gabbert who mysteriously became every scout's darling. Sure, he could slip like Mallett but he doesn't have the red flags that Ryan had. There's a strong chance we won't get a shot at him if we pass at 8. If you believe a QB can become a quality starter in this league then can you really take him too early? You'd only pass if you think you can get him later but looking at the crazy rush of last year, I wouldn't bet on it.

I think KC and Cleveland will try yo draft QBs in the first round. Dont forget Arizona is a wildcard for a QB too.

Tannehill is a better QB than RGIII IMO, he has franchise skills and 1st round talent. There is no way he will get out of the 1st round. Call him a reach if you want but RGIII is a monumental reach in comparison. If we can't get Tannehill or Weeden I don't see any reason to take any of the other QB's in the draft.
