Nice little read about Henne in this article. There is a lot of other Fin related news in this piece, just click the link below to read it all.

Rookie Chad Henne said in late December he hoped for a chance to compete for the starting job this summer. That will not happen, barring injury, with coach Tony Sparano announcing Chad Pennington will remain the starter entering next season. But Henne understands the need to be patient.

''Every quarterback is waiting for their chance. I'm anxious,'' Henne said. ``Chad is a tremendous quarterback, but I'm going to keep competing each day. I'll keep pressing him every day. Obviously, I don't want to wait too long. But it's a tremendous opportunity to learn the first couple of years and not get thrown under the bus.''

Though he didn't throw a pass in a game after the Week 2 blowout loss to Arizona, Henne said he improved his ``anticipation of throws, getting the ball out a lot quicker and identifying defenses. I've learned a tremendous amount from Chad, the way he carries himself as a leader.''

Henne did five to 10 extra hours of work per week to help Pennington, primarily breaking down film of opponents. That helped him learn techniques of cornerbacks, among other things. Henne also attended meetings that Pennington held twice a week with receivers and once a week with linemen.

Though rookies Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco were starters, ''I think I'm learning more than they are,'' Henne said. ``When my time comes, I'll be ready.''

I want to mention that I am a big fan of Pennington right now and that I do think he is without question the starting quarterback going into the 2009 season. With that said, I think Henne is the quarterback that eventually brings a Super Bowl win to the Dolphins.

Great to hear that the kid is doing well. Can't wait to see the day he starts but for now we'll stick with Penny as he continues to turn this team into winners.

I agree Nub. I really think this kid sitting behind Pennington really is very valuable. I think he can do some things physically as far as throwing that ball that maybe Pennington can't, but, the intelligence part of the game is something that you must learn by filmwork and having someone there for you to mentor you that's been taking live rounds before. I love hearing him use words like Identifying Defenses and the antisipation of the throw, things we hear the "experts" talk about all the time. I think his physical tools combined with what he's learning this year and next year will culminate in him leading this team to be a consistent playoff team and SB winner. Thank you for the heads up on the article.

i'm glad to see that he wants the job,but is learning from Penny, and understands the need to learn more from Penny so he has a better understanding of defenses when he finally does get in there...and how to carry himself as a leader in the NFL...i sure hope&pray he becomes what we think&believe he can be....the next good to great Dolphins QB....

Damn, thank you PENNINGTON! And I'm very happy to see that Henne is more than willing to learn from Penny, and even help him and the whole team

The thought of Pennington's brain with Henne's arm is pretty nice.
For Henne, it is like having two quarterback coaches with David Lee and Pennington.

People are looking at Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco this year and probably saying that learning on the bench isn't that important. The thing is, Matt Ryan had a pretty good supporting cast and Flacco didn't have to do much with that great Defense.

For every Matt Ryan, there is a bunch of Ryan Leafs and John Becks. I think this was the perfect season for Chad Henne. He got to sit and learn the NFL game behind arguably the most intelligent quarterbacks in the game. Plus, he did get some minimal game action(Week 2).

Carson Palmer benefited greatly by sitting his first season. Henne is currently 23 years old and will be 24 when the 2009 season begins. Sitting another year behind Pennington will not hurt him. He can continue to learn, get reps and be even more ready when his number is eventually called.

Pennington will be 33 when next season begins and while there are QBs like Warner and Favre still playing close to 40 years, I think it will be sooner rather than later before Henne takes over. I think 2010 will be his year and he will still only be 25 years old with a good 7-10 years in him probably.

cant wait till the offseason officially beginssssssss as far as moves starting.

I like Henne more than Flacco...

Flacco is carried by D a mature and generaly plays with a short field ..., Blt cannot carry + 5-6 TOs a game much further... Tennessee shot themselves in the foot today...

I love this part. Chad Henne seems to be very confident.

While I like his confidence to, I don't see how he could be learning more on the sideline then he would on the field. That's not to say he should be on the field yet, I think when the job is his he will be good to go.

I would love the Dolphins to give C Penn his first coaching job as are QB coach in a couple of years. He will one day be a top Offencive coordinator, why not start with us?

CP is a great guy and was a stabilizing factor for the offense this season, BUT, if Henne is anywhere as good as we think he is; CP will not be able to keep him on the bench.
I'm hoping that Henne represents an upgrade at the QB position.

Sporano should not have given Pennington the starting job right away. Let all 3 qbs compete for the job. Pennington would win it more than likely but it gives Henne and Beck something to work extra hard for.

I see you have given up on John Beck. I still feel that he will be traded and pan out to be a good qb.
