Most impressive coaching debut: Nick Saban.
Much like Charlie Weiss has done in Notre Dame, Nick Saban showed what a difference a coach can make. Saban, one of the top defensive minds in football, was expected to have a good defense. What makes Miami exciting is that the team looked like it had a lot of weapons on offense. The offensive line was better than expected. Ronnie Brown made plays, as did Chris Chambers, Marty Booker and tight end Randy McMichael. The running game should improve even more with the return of Ricky Williams in a few weeks.

You also need to give credit to "Team Minnesota" in quarterback Gus Frerotte and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. The Vikings' struggles this week speaks volumes of the job Linehan did in them. Other people might blame the departure of Randy Moss, but to lose Linehan is just as big of a factor.

I like it better when Welker doesn't get props from those national media punks, just shows they only read box scores and never watch a single game.

I think the creativity (so far) in our offensive play calling is night and day from last year. Linehan deserves credit, but the team must still execute. It all starts from the O-line.

welkers fumble didnt do him good in the props department. other than that he had a solid game. i love linehan has incorporated him into the offensive scheme.

When Linehan left, weren't all the fans of the Vikings saying he was overrated?

Since I'm in Minnesota, all the Vikings games are on TV here. To be honest, I thought he made some questionable play calls, but I knew he would be better than anything the Dolphins have had in a while.

Well, considering they had to choose between Romeo Crennel who lost, Mike Nolan who won, and Nick Saban who won, they really didn't have a lot of options in ways of best coaching debut did they?

Nolan won but against a Rams team that went 8-8 last year. Miami at least beat a playoff team with a WINNING record last year.

Not bad considering its from Collinsworth.

He wasn't too impressed. I heard Collinsworth picked the Jets to win this weekend.:shakeno:

He protected the football correctly (with both arms around the football), but the guy simply overpowered him and punched it out. I saw that and said to myself that it was a good special teams play from Denver as opposed to poor play from Welker.

He'll be a good returner for us, I expect a run back this year :D

Why is that so hard to believe?

It's going to be a close game.. we're not gonna roll into the Meadowlands and blow out the Jets in their home opener after they got dismantled last week.

Those boys are gonna be pumped, it's gonna be a hardfought game that can go either way.
