Dolphins on to new candidate for vacant GM job: Patriots director of pro personnel Nick Caserio, who is in Miami interviewing today.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Pats director of pro personnel Nick Caserio is interviewing for Fins' GM job today. So 1 new cand. in mix.

Nick Caserio was named director of player personnel on Feb. 21, 2008, after serving in a number of roles for the Patriots' personnel department and coaching staff. He enters his 13th season with the Patriots in 2013 and his 11th season in player personnel.

Caserio joined the Patriots in 2001 as a personnel assistant. In 2002, he served as an offensive coaching assistant coach for the team, while in 2003 he moved to the scouting department as an area scout. Caserio served as the Patriots' director of player personnel from 2004 to 2006 prior to spending the 2007 season as wide receivers coach.

In 2008 he returned to the personnel department, as director of player personnel. He remained in that position even after Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli departed in 2009 to become general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs; former Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese was brought in as a "senior football advisor." Throughout the 2009 preseason, however, Caserio assisted the offensive coaching staff, which included new wide receivers coach Chad O'Shea and tight ends coach Shane Waldron. Caserio also continued to assist the coaching staff from the press box during games along with football research director Ernie Adams.

What is going on? A fine candidate, but finalists...back to square one.

Out of nowhere candidate. Eff it, don't even interview him, just hire him outright

I like it. Caserio is well respected in league circles and is supposed to be a good talent evaluator. Plus it would weaken the Pats and give us insight on their possible plans if they has been talking already.

Jesus Christ. Not saying there is anything wrong with it, but it seems we are starting our search over again, and if so, they better not hire any of the candidates they have previously interviewed because starting a first round of interviews with new candidates says alot about the current candidates already interviewed.

One thing is clear, they really really don't want to give the gig to Gaine. Now they are interviewing new candidates when they said they would be bringing back finalists

Oh ... my. Makes me wonder if Caserio called us?

Maybe if Ross would allow him to hire and fire people within the org he would take the gig...HC and cap person included.

Patriots already have lost O-Line coach Dante Scarnecchia, TE coach George Godsey, LB coach Pepper Johnson. Now could lose Nick Caserio.

Exactly, that's why I say they should just hire this guy sight unseen!
