I have an honest query for jets fans:

What have you seen from Nick Mangold this year that makes him a special player? While it is certainly quite a feat for a rookie C to start all of the season, what have you seen him do on the field that makes him great? Also, why are people putting Mangold in the conversation for ROY and not D'Brick?

I haven't watched much of the jets this year, and when I did, I certainly did not focus on the o-line play. Have any of you really focused on Mangold and seen him make amazing plays, or is he just a steady player and that's why you're so high on him. Or do you just have the hots for his sister (I couldn't keep myself from taking a shot at jets fans)?

Is he really getting consideration for ROY?

I mean he look like he's going to be a great player from the little I've seen. I just wonder how he can be in consideration, and someone like Demeco Ryans can't be.

Demeco Ryans will win Defensive Rookie more than likely or is one of the top choices to. But there's a lot of rookies that could walk away with ROY.

Bush, Jones-Drew, Colston, Young...ect...

If Colston didn't get hurt I think it would have been him for sure, but Jones-Drew has played really well for the 4th back chosen in the draft.

Come on jets fans, defend your boy Mangold!

You can't defend D'Bustashaw Ferguson. He just got ripped a new one by Schobel. Thanks to D'Bustashaw, Schobel got Defensive Player of the Week!

jets suck!

I'd kill to have Mangold as our Center.
Hell, I'd kill to have a better OL period.

Well, he's got great quickness and strength, you can pull with him quite easily like with Mawae. The Jets never have to deal with penetration up the middle because he's rock solid at standing guys up. No muffed snaps. vocal team leader. good at recognizing schemes and reporting back to chad who might be coming from where.

brick had one bad game, other than that he's beemn solid. Not quite a great run blocker yet but a great pass protector. mangold has it all right now as he is great against the run and pass at a very demanding position for a rookie where he has to make all the line calls. We were fortunate to watch a great C in Kevin mawae for almost a decade but this kid has a chance to be even better. He's not quite as agile and quick as Mawae but he has more power and is better eqipped to handle the mammoth Dts which gave Mawae trouble.

I watched some of Mangold yesterday. No doubting his intensity, nor his leadership on the field.

Mangold has been incredibly solid this season.

He has been a horse in the middle and making alot of the OL sight adjustments.

While I think the ROY talk is a bit ridiculous for an OL he has been the better of the two so far this year.

no way he gets ROY on offense -- way too many spotlight player - Vince Young, Reggie Bush, Jones-Drew etc...that get into the highlights, but Mangold has been more than we had hoped for. Forced into the starting role he has anchored that line, plays nasty, and will be there for years to come -- great replacement for Mawae

You have to remember, he was thrown in at starter and has learned alot this year. He may not get ROY, but he is going to be a force for us in the future.

The main things that make Mangold a solid center are his reads on defensive fronts and potential blitzers and his mobility on the line.

Chad hasn't been dumped by an up the gut blitz all season, even though teams spent a lot of time blitzing between the tackles early on to try to take advantage of rookie mistakes.

Is Mangold the offensive rookie of the year? Nope. But he's a good center who is likely to become a great one in years to come.
