some excerpts--

answers many of the crazy posters over the last couple weeks:
(On if he will have Wes Welker focus on being the return guy and put someone else into the third receiver slot) – “Well you know Wes deserves, based on his contribution and how well he plays, the opportunities to play. He was very productive for us last year when we played three wide receivers. He’s been very productive this preseason, especially in practice, not that he’s had a tremendous amount of opportunities in the game. I think it’s for somebody to beat him out, not for us to take it away from him, although we do feel good about the way some of the other receivers have developed. Derek Hagan is obviously a guy that we feel comfortable playing, relative to his production and performance even though he’s a young player. (Cliff) Russell has done a good job as well and made some plays and has been a good special teams addition for us, which probably was the determining factor for him to make the team.â€Â
(On if he was a Steelers fan growing up) – “Yes. As I said before, Terry is in charge of tickets for this game. We have them coming over the hill like the Philistines.â€Â

(On being a Steelers fan on Thursday) – “Who me? Are you kidding? How about when I was in Cleveland for four years, playing them twice a year? How about the year when we won 11 or 12 games in Cleveland and only lost five, I think. Maybe, six after we lost to them in the playoffs. We lost to them three times. We only lost three other games. We were like 12 and six. We lost to them three times and we lost three other games the whole year. When I was in Cleveland I wasn’t much of a Steelers fan either. They are a great organization and they have done a good job through the years in terms of the success. Bill Cowher certainly has done an outstanding job there. They have a good coaching staff. They play good football.â€Â

how can you not love this guy?

i think mr. saban had that word beaten into his skull....

(Saban talking about Wes Welker) – “Well you know Wes deserves, based on his contribution and how well he plays, the opportunities to play. Wes is the man! The sooner the Wes "haters" get off knocking his speed and size, the better. You are missing out on countless oppotunities to get excited about a player. Wes gives you that. Whenever Wes gets the ball, he takes you for a ride. I hope he has a great year. I think he has been in the NFL, and with the Dolphins, long enough now to have a breakout year in the return game.

GO FINS!!!! :dolphins: :dolphins: :dolphins:

Yeah lets role with Vince Papali, I mean wes welker as a go to guy all year.

Every time i read these, Saban is usually positive in his remarks about the players as a whole.

He does get more negative when asked about specific players but thats only when the cat is out of the bag about that player.

Do you think Saban is honestly pleased with the play or he doesnt want anyone knowing the truth? I ask this bc his comments get me more excited about what could be this year and just want to know if i can use those comments as a gauge.

I know this sounds silly, but I wish Saban had grown up as a phin fan, LOL, I'm kind of afraid he leaves us someday :boohoo:

:D

I don't see im as that kind of guy. He has pretty much total control and that is what he likes.

I thought the best nugget of information was about Jason Allen....He basically said he wasn't disappointed in the progress of Allen and that he is the type of player that can do a lot of things from the safety position. We all knew Allen was a versatile guy, but it's good to hear Saban still has lofty expectations for hiim.

Also, he made a good point about evaluating our draft. As the team gets better/deeper, newcomers will find it increasingly different to step right in. Just because none of our picks are starting right away doesn't mean they won't have an impact down the road, just that it's getting harder to crack the starting lineup because there are more people ahead of them that know the system.
